03.01.2022 COVID -19 and Pet Safety Can dogs or cats get coronavirus? The World Health Organisation says there is currently no evidence that pets such as dogs or cats can be infected with the new coronavirus. There are many ways to protect yourselves and your pets, this includes practicing standard precautionary hygiene measures as recommended by the relevant health departments in your state or territory.... If you require to self-isolate for 14 days, this may impact your pets daily routine and you may need to keep them at home with you. Ensure that you have at least two weeks of pet food and any medication you may need on hand. If you have been diagnosed positive for COVID-19 then you may wish to take extra precautions to keep your pets safe. The centre of Disease Control in the USA recommends: "You should restrict contact with pets and other animals while you are sick with COVID-19, just like you would around other people. When possible, have another member of your household care for your animals while you are sick. If you are sick with COVID-19, avoid contact with your pet, including petting, snuggling, being kissed or licked and sharing food. If you must care for your pet or be around animals while you are sick, wash your hands before and after you interact with pets and wear a facemask." 01.01.2022 Today Nestl Purina PetCare has announced a recall of the STAR WARS cat collars in Australia, as cats may catch their claws on the edge of the collar, causing it to fray. This frayed collar may cause injury to the cat. The cat collars can be identified by the distinctive Star Wars fabric sewn onto the black collar. The collar comes in two Star Wars designs, both of which have a bell and a quick release clasp.
