25.01.2022 Have you heard of Varroa mites? The Varroa mite is a tiny mite that attaches itself to honey bees and honey bee brood to the detriment of the honey bee and the honey bee colony. Australia is the only populated country in the world that hasnt been impacted by the Varroa Destructor (a type of Varroa mite), however, experts predict that its only a matter of time before it establishes itself in Australia. Its our vision that the Purple Hive Project will help to protect Austr...alia from Varroa Destructor to try to ensure that the honey industry, as well as honey bee pollination dependent industries, are viable for generations to come. The Purple Hive Projects Purple Hive is a solar-powered artificial intelligence-based device, designed to detect the Varroa Destructor (Varroa mite), a parasite of adult honey bees and honey bee brood. The Purple Hive utilises 360-degree camera technology (which operates 24 hours per day) and an artificial intelligence algorithm to distinguish between a healthy bee from a bee carrying the Varroa mite. ... If a Varroa mite is detected by the Purple Hive, an alert is sent immediately. The Purple Hive will share an image of the impacted bee for further analysis. 03.01.2022 This has to BEE one of our favourite snacks - our No-Bake Honey & Nut Slice! The perfect mid-afternoon pick me up, get the recipe below. #Bhoney #PurpleHiveProject No-Bake Honey & Nut Slice Serves: 16 Preparation time: 10 minutes... Cooling time: 2 hours Ingredients: 1 cups raw cashew nuts 1 cups dates, pitted and roughly chopped cup dried apricots, roughly chopped 1/3 cup B honey cup Bega Simply Nuts Peanut Butter Crunchy cup coconut 160g dark chocolate, melted 1 tablespoon coconut oil Method: 1. Add the cashew nuts to a food processor and pulse until roughly chopped. 2. Add the dates, apricots, B honey, Bega Simply Nuts Peanut Butter, coconut and 1 teaspoon of water. Pulse until you have a sticky dough. (If the dough is not sticking together add another drop of water). 3. Line a 20cm x 2cm square pan with non-stick paper and press the dough into the pan. Using damp hands helps this process. 4. Melt the chocolate with the oil over a double boiler. Spread over the cashew mixture and refrigerate until set. Approximately 2 hours. 5. Cut into 16 pieces. Best kept in the fridge.
