23.01.2022 The Australian Federal Government presented the 2020 - 21 budget on Tuesday 6th October 2020. The Federal Government had been warning for months that this year's budget would be the most consequential since World War 2. With an apparent departure from the traditional migration composition, the Government has placed a greater emphasis on family stream visas. We are currently still reviewing the full impact on immigration from Tuesday's announcement. To read our top ten major... immigration updates from the Australian 2020 -21 budget and find out why Australia partner visas will require an English test, visit https://puttlegal.com.au//australian-budget-2020-21-immig/. Jessica Edis Principal Lawyer from Putt Legal, said "The media is making these changes sound a lot more complicated on applicants and sponsors than it is. Once the complete detail of the program is released, I may change my thoughts, but for now, my initial advice is not to panic. If you are being advised by your friends, family or an agent to apply quickly to avoid potential changes in future, then perhaps this is for their reasons and not in your best interests. As always, if you are unsure, please contact us, and we will happily answer any questions". For a free online preliminary assessment, visit https://puttlegal.com.au/visa-assessment/. 12.01.2022 Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List released with 17 Occupations. The Australian Government revealed a new Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) on 3rd September 2020. The list contains 17 occupations to strengthen the Australian labour market. What is PMSOL?... PMSOL is a list of occupations within the health care, construction and IT sectors that aims to support and strengthen Australia’s economic recovery. The scheme will allow a small number of sponsored overseas skilled workers to come to Australia and fill urgent skills in critical sectors. The majority of occupations included on the PMSOL are within the health care sector. The Government identified these occupations based on advice from the National Skills Commission and in consultation with other relevant Commonwealth agencies. The acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs Alan Tudge said the change would strike the right balance for Australia’s economic recovery. Our priority is getting Australians back into work, but we also need key health workers to help fight the virus and skilled migrants who are going to be job multipliers, to help the economy recover, Mr Tudge said.
