22.01.2022 PLAYER PROFILE: CONNOR CRUD RUDDER (M) Club: BVC Bears Position: Middle Height: 195cm... Touch: 330cm Notable Accolades: 2016 Div 2 Men MVP Hailing from the 4680, Tannum Sands local, Connor Crud Rudder, has made a huge splash in Queensland’s Premier Volleyball League since his arrival at #bearsnation in 2016. Crud started in Div 2 for the Bears way back when and has since worked his way to solidifying his spot as starting middle for their Premier Men’s team. 2018 was [for the most part] a great season for Crud. Having worked his way up from Div 2 way back when, 2018 saw Connor solidify his spot as starting middle for not only the Bears’ Premier Men, but also the Queensland Pirates. In addition to Pirates and Bears’ duties Connor also was a part of the QUT team who secured a gold medal at the Australian National University Games. While the Bears’ premier men’s season wasn’t anything to write back to Tannum Sands about (6-6), Crud has also been an asset to BVC by helping coordinate their social league. Despite all 2018 in had in store for Crud, we here at The PVL Post also have it on good authority that he has been going full L. Rod Hubbard on recruitment duty this preseason for the cult that is Bears. We believe these bold efforts come off the back of his front-office XP at Big Boys Make Big Noise HQ. Truly inspiring stuff. Rawr XD, Crud!
19.01.2022 RUMOUR MILL (FREE AGENCY): Jack Halley (L) Bonjour monsieur Halley! Ex-parisian import, Jack Halley, has returned home to the land down under to reign terror on anyone trying to compete for the Pirates’ starting Libero spot. After playing abroad in France for a few seasons, Jack returned to Queensland late 2018 and wasted no time getting back into the swing of things as he took court for the Queensland Pirates.... After a comprehensive performance in the AVL final at Melbourne’s Sports and Aquatic Centre, there was much chatter as to which PVL team would be able to acquire such an asset. SPOILER! IT’S BEARS PREM MEN. *acts surprised* All we’re asking here at The Post is, where are they getting all this cap space from?. Somebody needs to take a look at the books in our opinion. Irrespective, we welcome the Bears’ acquisition of Halley as it means they might be competitive for the first time since the departure of a certain red-headed giant a few years back.
04.01.2022 RUMOUR MILL (FREE AGENCY): Luke Di Trapani (PH) | Norths (11-1) to UQ Goats (111) | PVL heart-throb, Luke Di Trapani, is set to return from a brief 3-year hiatus North of the Wall to his beloved Goats. ... We all know the man can jump through the roof, but will this be enough to once again play alongside AVL superstars, Will Mercer & Andrew ‘Macca’ Maclean. The question does have to be asked though does this return simply have to do with convenience, or were their complications with North’s management? We will let you know! One thing is for certain, it is eerily reminiscent of a certain ring-chaser. #KevinDurant
04.01.2022 RUMOUR MILL (FREE AGENCY): Jack Holland (M) | QUT Cobras (1-11) to BVC Bears (6-6) | After suffering a dreary record last season in premier men’s, former QUT Cobra’s middle hitter, Jack Holland, has decided that this fall, he will be taking his talents to Clayfield to join the Brisbane Volleyball Club Bears.... Jack, who was instrumental in the development of the QUT organisation, has elected to part ways with his former roster after having a break-out debut for the Queensland Pirates. Given the new-look roster that the Bears are sporting, we are unsure exactly as to where Jack will slip into the BVC arsenal. More to come, yee haww!
