15.01.2022 A beautiful day at the Surfers Regatta at Broadwater Park on the Gold Coast on Saturday. Thankyou Surfers OCC and SQ Zone for another great Regatta and paddling event. May we all always be profoundly grateful that we are so lucky to be able to do this at a time when people around the world are locked down and suffering so much from the COVID Pandemic and its impact. How lucky we all are down under. A big shout out to family and friends who supported us and a special well done to the women's masters team in placing third in a tough field. Awesome result!

14.01.2022 Dear Paddling Ohana, Whanau, Aiga, Vuvale, it is with much sadness that I announce the death of Merv Anderson who died this week at age 84 after a long 4 plus year battle with cancer. For those that knew Merv he was a boat builder, Sydney to Hobart sailor, paddler and master waterman who continued to paddle and steer up until a few years ago. When he became a bit unsteady on his feet and we were worried if he fell in the water he wouldn't be able to get back in the Va’a we ...had to break the sad news to him that we couldn't put him in a canoe any more just in case we drowned him. He was sad but continued to drop by and say hello and stay connected to his paddling family. Today one of his old paddling mates rang to ask if we could help participate in a ceremony to spread his ashes on the water. So on Sunday 27 Dec early in the calm of the early morning we will be arranging for our OC12 and two OC6s Va’a to be dressed with flowers and coconut palms and take a small circle of family and friends out onto the water to Honor and farewell Merv into the ocean he so loved. This will be at the end of the Shorncliffe pier. Even if you didn't know Merv you are all welcome as fellow paddlers to come and help participate in the ceremony to farewell him on the water and be part of our paddling ohana and culture to say goodbye to one of our most respected and most loved Koro’s.

14.01.2022 Another good day on the water wetting both the two new club Va’a and also blooding a few of our new paddlers into the world of OC1 ‘Love.’

06.01.2022 Dear paddlers and friends. Today we farewelled Merv Anderson off Shorncliffe Pier by taking members of his family out to spread his ashes on the ocean as he had wanted. We couldn’t have asked for a better day with 8 x OC6 Canoes/Va’a on the water along with close to 20 x OC1/2s. Thank you to all those who came and shared their love and respect for the passing of one of our elders in our paddling family, Aiga, Whanau, Vuvale. Thank you especially to those members of Redcliffe OCC, Panamuna OCC, Brisbane OCC and all past and present paddlers for farewelling Merv in the way he would have wanted. On the water with his crew mates and family

01.01.2022 A great days racing at Scarborough Regatta at Redcliffe Brisbane. Thanks Scarbourough OCC for a great day filled with as much fun off the water as on the water. We also managed to follow up with an awesome Christmas party combined with our hosts Volunnteer Marine Rescue. A cool fun night for over 100 people.
