24.01.2022 In partnership with the SA Housing Authority and it’s Aboriginal Advisory committee, PwC’s Indigenous Consulting are currently undertaking community consultations to develop the South Australian Aboriginal Housing Strategy. We are looking to obtain the thoughts, perspectives and experiences of the Aboriginal community across South Australia, which are viewed as invaluable in informing the development of the Strategy. We recognise that the current COVID-19 pandemic is having a... major impact on how engagement can occur. Acknowledging that the ideal consultation process would allow for face-to-face interaction, we are aware of the risk that this can pose to communities, particularly Aboriginal communities at this time. Therefore, through the online questionnaire below, we hope to provide the opportunity for existing challenges to be shared and for new and innovative ideas to be captured from the people and organisations the strategy will impact most - the Aboriginal community of South Australia. The Ask: We are asking Aboriginal people that live in South Australia to complete the survey (and share with your community) so that your voice is heard and helps inform the strategy. The opportunity to provide your input within the questionnaire will be available until the 31st of July 2020. https://forms.gle/Ti6HDYcRUJFB3XEt7 If you have any queries please contact Roland Ah Chee at [email protected] or (08) 8218 7031. We look forward to hearing your feedback.

12.01.2022 PIC were proud sponsors of the 9th Aboriginal Economic Development Forum (AEDF9) held in Darwin last month. Over 350 delegates heard from Minister Ken Wyatt who spoke of the importance of Aboriginal economic development and its contribution to the economy. Discussions focused on workforce and skilling, investment attraction, economic opportunities, the Aboriginal business marketplace, the global economy, innovation, and strategic partnerships. The big attraction was Jonathan Thurston AM who impressed the forum attendees with his own business story. 09.01.2022 Its been a few weeks of celebration and recognition for important milestones, and also a time which has required deep reflection. On the back of a solemn reminder in Sorry Day, weve had National Reconciliation Week, (Full recording of our webcast can be found here, https://youtu.be/gJivZ_hbClc). Then following a Mabo Day (an incredible time to celebrate a country-changing person and agenda, and people), we had the events in the USA really shine a light on issues both abroad..., and at home. With more than 430 Aboriginal deaths in Australian prisons since the Royal Commission, and not a single conviction around any wrongdoing, there is clearly more work to do. In addition, last week saw the release of a report from the ANU, across more than 11,000 participants over a 10-year period, showing 75% of those tested having negative implicit or unconscious bias against Indigenous Australians. This has helped to make visible some key underlying issues our society needs to deal with. Racism remains a daily reality for many people in this country. Yes there is much yet to do, and it's fueling us here at PIC to be at the forefront of this change for our society, and to show first hand what we can all do when we come together... Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead #TogetherWeSolve #InThisTogether

07.01.2022 We stand in solidarity with our First Nations Peoples and pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, ancestors and stolen generations across the country. We recognise that today is a day of grief and sorrow as we mark 23 years since the landmark bringing them home report was tabled in Federal Parliament as part of the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children From Their Families. The report contained ...54 recommendations and illuminated many of the historic and contemporary experiences of First Nations Peoples and the impact of colonial history. We also like to acknowledge the relevance of Australias National Apology by former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in parliament on 13 February 2008. Delivered in line with Recommendations 5a and 5b of the Report, the apology acknowledged the historic wrongs - the governments laws and policies - that have had a profound impact on Indigenous peoples in Australia. While remembering the suffering and injustices brings to light our nations dark past, it also serves as a reminder of the strength, determination and resilience of our communities and leaders, past and present, who strived for a better Australia, as well as the progress that we have all made collectively as a nation. In the spirit of reconciliation, we welcome all Australians to join us in our healing and in commemorating our stolen generations and communities on this important first day of National Reconciliation Week. In line with our support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart, we remain committed to working with PwC Australia in our joint Reconciliation efforts to address the disproportionate impacts of past injustices on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. #sorryday #togetherwesolve #reconciliationitstime See more

01.01.2022 Today, PIC acknowledges the International Day of the Worlds Indigenous Peoples and the important role we all can play in the protection and promotion of the rights of Indigenous peoples. This years theme of Indigenous Languages provides an opportunity to celebrate and engage in a national conversation about Australia's First Peoples languages and the fact that 90% are considered endangered. Across the globe, it is estimated that every 2 weeks, an Indigenous language disappe...ars, placing at risk the extensive, complex systems of knowledge. Indigenous languages are central to the identity of Indigenous people, the preservation of their cultures, worldviews and visions, as well as expressions of self-determination. PIC recognizes the diversity of Australia's First Peoples languages and their importance in supporting cultural resurgence for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and shaping our national identity. Join the conversation online using #IYIL2019, #IndigenousLanguages and #weareindigenous.
