24.01.2022 For the last year we have been expanding our reach on New South Wale's Central Coast thanks to the support of Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation. It has been so wonderful to watch this growth and be able to support the many children in the region who were on our waiting lists. The Coast Community News recently chatted to one of our Pyjama Angels and shared this lovely article about their journey together.

23.01.2022 Stuck on ideas for your next Pyjama Angel visit? Our friends at Teach Starter have a plethora of Christmas craft, code breakers and everything in between for you to make use of!

23.01.2022 "In a time where we are all hearing the dreadful statistics on increased mental health issues and suicide rates from COVID-19 led anxiety,a new study confirms what many suspected that volunteering not only helps the community, but also the volunteer’s mental health." A fantastic article from our friends at The Impact Suite featuring us! If you were thinking of volunteering, this could be your sign. 18.01.2022 Help us make a difference to the lives of foster children this Christmas Christmas is meant to be a time of joy. A time to enjoy the company of our loved ones and to celebrate all we have. For children in care however, Christmas is a time that brings back sad memories that cast a shadow on the joy of the festive season. Our goal is to raise $45,000 this Christmas to bring many more Pyjama Angels into the lives of vulnerable children, just like Kiarna. Donate today and help... us make a lasting impact: https://pyjama-foundation.giveeasy.org/christmas-appeal-2020

18.01.2022 Lucas and Austin teamed up to show us how they have been spending some of their time in Melbourne's lockdown. This is exactly what we needed Hang in there!

17.01.2022 During our Pyjama Angel training we share many of these eye-opening realities about the children we support with our incoming volunteers... This is a great article which explores the importance of being trauma-informed and understanding the impact this can have on children's lives.

16.01.2022 It's officially Spooky Month! This is a fun way to wrap some treats!

16.01.2022 We loved hearing this from one of our Pyjama Angels a few months after lockdown started. It has been truly inspiring to see how dedicated out volunteers have been during this time. "There are still some weeks that he's not that keen to have a chat but he still writes me a little letter, or has last week's activities completed to give me. About 10 days ago I dropped off a new experiment for him, which he was able to show me the result of last week. He's going to try a new version of it this week once I've dropped off some new colours." - Pyjama Angel.

16.01.2022 It's all fun and games until you realise you're drinking the toilet water

15.01.2022 'Magic Mistakes' by Author and Child and Adolescent Psychologist, Belinda Blecher, reminds us that everyone makes mistakes and these mistakes can lead to amazing, magical things! Mistakes are an essential part of learning and they push adults and children out of their comfort zone. As this special afternote in this book highlights, encouraging kids to take risks is important as this is often where the 'magic happens'. 14.01.2022 It's been a tough 2+ months for our committed volunteers who have only been able to connect with their children virtually and via letter writing. And despite the beautiful connections and moments they had during this time, we know that they have been itching to get back and visit their Pyjama Child in person. We are excited to announce that as of Monday 15 June for our Queensland Pyjama Angels and Monday 22 June for our NSW Pyjama Angels we have been given permission from th...e relevant government bodies for visits to recommence with social distancing measures in place! In Victoria, we are working hard to also finalise the recommencement date but ask volunteers to continue connecting virtually until we can provide this. We are so grateful to our volunteers, foster families and stakeholders for being so understanding and adaptive to the restrictions we faced during these unpredictable few months. Our extended Pyjama Family is truly the best there is. If you're thinking about joining us, training sessions will begin to occur across the country very soon. Please submit your application via: https://thepyjamafoundation.com/volunteer/

11.01.2022 We are so grateful to have had Lil' Eve recently donate over 10 packs of affirmation cards for us to share with the special little people in our program. Founder Geri shares our passion of wanting to empower children (and adults) with a positive mindset, and these cards are a step in that direction. To all our Pyjama Angels, keep an eye out because these will be hitting the shelves in our Resource Libraries very very soon!

11.01.2022 Are you working with a little person who's interested about their place in the world? How fabulous is this activity to get kids to consider where they sit at each level and how everything connects!

09.01.2022 We recently asked a few questions to nearly 200 of the children in our program to learn more about how they feel about having a Pyjama Angel. 91% came back to us saying their Pyjama Angel is helping them develop school connectedness, academic resilience and learning confidence. We also learnt that age or time did not impact on any of these scores, with positive feedback whether the child has been in the program for 3 months or 3 years. Following this, we established the average relationship between a volunteer and child last for 3.6 years! These relationships are so important for more than just learning, but for building life skills and confidence. Thank you to all of our supporters for helping make these relationships form and flourish.

09.01.2022 Parents and caregivers are trying to navigate a lot at the moment, especially those still in Victoria's lockdown. Between supervising older children's homework and supporting online learning from younger kids, there are also families who are worried about their child attending school next year. This article explores what school readiness really is, and it may surprise you!

08.01.2022 It has been suggested that children laugh more than 300 times a day, whereas adults laugh less than 20 times a day. Maybe the wonder is the key.

06.01.2022 This man spotted a boy in the neighbourhood using his driveway to ride his bike... What he does next will warm your heart.

06.01.2022 The Pyjama Foundation Cairns now has a new training space, resource library and storage facility thanks to the incredible team at Metro Mining Ltd who have generously given up some of their space. Our small Cairns team (Liz and Joeleen photographed in the middle here) is already so excited to move in and start operating out of this space.

05.01.2022 Don't throw out the stale bread! The kids will love you for it

02.01.2022 We love seeing things like this which get all the neighbourhood kids out and about. This is one of the most intricate we have seen how creative!

01.01.2022 Such a special way to start an important conversation!
