14.02.2022 I've been getting quite emotional writing these posts over the past couple of weeks. It means a lot to me that these people so readily welcomed me into their lives. There are so many more of you who have made these past few years a very special time for me, so thank you to everyone reading this, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas break. HOWEVER! Before I sign off for the year, I need to give the biggest thank you by far to my darling wife Melinda Bannister.... Mel is the most loving, supportive and kind person I know. She's held me as I've lost everything, gave me space to rebuild, then took the lead in our daily lives as I got overtaken by work once again. 'We'll make it work' is how she lives her life, never balking at a challenge or stepping down when things get tough. Just the perfect human being. Mel, I love you so much. We're going to take a few weeks to switch off, spend some quality family time and get ready for another crazy year. Have a great break everyone, see you in 2022. <3

08.02.2022 Some people share your sense of humour.. some people share your outlook on life. Some share your 'can do' attitude and sometimes your desire to change the world. What you rarely find is someone who encompasses all of this with an added sparkle, a true unicorn. Kylie Clarke has been that person this year. Ever since we first worked together in late 2020 we just clicked. We've done some amazing things together in 12 months and have had so many laughs along the way.... Thank you Kylie for your partnership over the course of so many projects, this whole rebuilding has been so much easier knowing you've had my back. You're amazing. Kylie is very sadly stepping out of the events industry (hopefully not for ever!), she'll be sorely missed as we move forward. Is this one of those "1000 likes and she'll come back" things?

03.02.2022 My next big thank you is to the wonderful Jo Palmer. Getting up and running in a new country in a relatively small industry has its challenges, particularly when you're looking to scale beyond your local area. Jo has been a big supporter over the past few years, and has an amazing knack for introducing you to just the right person at the right time. ... Thank you so much for all of your guidance as I navigate growing this business, and for being so generous with your network. It's hugely appreciated.

30.01.2022 I often wonder what position we'd be now in if Pyrus was based in the big city. I've seen many industry colleagues move onto other careers and other business shut down due to the strain Covid has put on events these past few years. But not us. we're thriving. We've worked hard to stay afloat but it's mostly due to the incredible support from the community here in Wagga. Exemplifying this was Craig Wealands, thanks so much for your support mate. Sorry, I know you'll hate me w...riting this. When the shit hit the fan and we all went into lockdown last year Craig came to Dane Simpson and I with an idea he's been mulling over for a while. What he shared with us became the legend that is Servo Bingo, an initiative Craig wanted to pursue to put a bit of cash into a struggling events production business, an out of work comedian and to incentivise shopping local and supporting other good causes, all whilst the Thirsty Crow was itself forced to close. An absolute legend that did more good for Pyrus than he could possibly imagine, it gave us a reason to upskill in our live broadcasting (it's a silly but quite technically challenging show) and helped give us a bit of breathing space in a very uncertain year. This man is the true meaning of community. ..and he hates having his photo taken.

18.01.2022 Belinda King was my first proper client after deciding to permanently settle in Wagga. She totally blew me away with her professionalism, attitude and dedication to her craft. I must have worked with hundreds of event managers over the years but Belinda is easily one of the best. She was also the first sign that there could be a real future for me in the regions. Many people had told me that I'd have to move to the big smoke to further my career or even to work on a decent ev...ent ever again, but Belinda was living proof that this wasn't true. Belinda has since become one of our most prolific brand evangelists, spreading the Pyrus word far and wide and I am eternally grateful for her support. Thank you Belinda!!
