19.01.2022 This webinar recording provides an account of Kelli Owen’s personal journey of kidney disease from diagnosis to transplant, and her subsequent continued work in... this field with the National Indigenous Kidney Transplantation Taskforce (NIKTT). It also includes: collaborations, trends and timelines for kidney health among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations a brief navigation of the Kidney Health portal and HealthInfoChat. The webinar was presented by Kelli Owen from the NIKTT, and Dr Janet Kelly and Kate Schwartzkopff from the University of Adelaide. It was hosted by the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet and also includes short presentations by Neil Drew and Gemma West. Kelli Owen is a proud Kaurna, Narungga and Ngarrindjeri woman and mother of five. Kelli is the Community Engagement Coordinator for NIKTT and is responsible for leading several community-focused initiatives. Dr Janet Kelly is a nurse researcher who works collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, health and research professionals in urban, rural and remote areas to improve health care experiences and outcomes. Kate Schwartzkopff is a research assistant who has worked in Aboriginal health since graduating from a Bachelor of Health Science in 2017.
