23.01.2022 The Otitis Media Guidelines for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children is now available online and as an app. The Guidelines are designed to assist primary health care providers in the delivery of comprehensive, effective and appropriate care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with otitis media (ear infections). The resources include diagnosis and management, communication tools and educational resources. ... Otitis media refers to all forms of inflammation and infection of the middle ear, sometimes known as glue ear or runny ears, causing hearing loss and communication problems. 21.01.2022 Today was the first day of our QAIHC State Members’ Conference on Gubbi Gubbi country on the Sunshine Coast! Participants heard from inspiring speakers including: - QAIHC Acting CEO Cleveland Fagan who spoke about Closing the Gap and what it means for QAIHC, our Members and the Sector - Dr Helen Haydon from the University of Queensland spoke about DementiaECHO ... - Dr Ray Mahoney, Dr Kaley Butten and Andrew Goodman from the CSIRO spoke about new Digital Health Developments. This afternoon the room was broken into groups to workshop the Close the Gap Priority Reforms and Socio-Economic Targets. Thank you to all of the speakers and our Members who attended day one of conference. 17.01.2022 Today we held the second and final day of our QAIHC State Members’ Conference. This morning we heard from a COVID-19 expert panel: Dr Lucas de Toca Dr Jeannette Young ... Dr Mark Wenitong. Thank you to Dr Jeannette, Dr Lucas and Dr Mark for taking the time to speak at our conference. The panel discussed what their role has been during the pandemic, the importance of true partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services and the safety and efficacy of the vaccine. This afternoon we held regional breakouts with our Members to discuss a range of topics affecting our Members including plans to navigate the future post COVID-19 and potential cuts to funding. Partnerships with Private Health Networks, Hospital and Health Services, peak health bodies, health reform, social reform and workforce training and developments. Cornwell is a Youth Support Worker at Darumbal Community Youth Service Inc. a not-for-profit community-controlled organisation. He works on the Walali Bili (Strong Walk) program, a community created Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture-based initiative that aims to encourage positive lifestyle choices and prevent re-offending behaviour. ... 03.01.2022 North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health (NCACCH) have been working hard to ensure their most vulnerable clients were looked after during the first wave of the Coronavirus pandemic. NCACCH sent out about 80 care packages including basic toiletry items, and made care support phone calls to all of their clients aged over 50 to make sure they were safe and well.
