03.01.2022 Tips from a #plumber to keep your kitchen drains from backing up. 1-Keep Grease away from the pipes- Never pour grease down the drain, this will overtime build up and cause your drains to close up. some grease is unavoidable while doing the washing up. We recommend flushing hot water down the line afterwards. 2-Avoid chemical drain cleaners- these can often do more damage then good, especially when a blockage may already be present. If you are looking to flush the kitchen lin...e then a mix of baking soda and vinegar is a much safer approach and can avoid damaging the line. 3- Avoid food going down the drain- the best way to do this is to have a sink strainer over the plug that can catch any food waste and then be easily put in the bin. Some foods to make sure you avoid going down the drain at all costs are: *Coffee Grounds * Starchy Foods such as rice, pasta, quinoa- these swell in water and can stick to the pipes *Stringy foods such as celery * Bones, fruit pits and eggshells * Anything non food related- nail clippings, hair, paper ect. #mandurahplumber #plumbingtips See more
