24.01.2022 Today we remember Richard Rick Stone who sadly passed away on the 8th of March, 2018. Rick left behind a young family and was a dear friend to many. He is sorely missed. We are thinking of his family, friends and colleagues on this difficult day. QAS Legacy supports the families of serving officers who pass, which is only possible due to the QAS Legacy financial members, donations from Local Ambulance Committees and other generous donors. We could not support so many families without these generous members and extend our deepest thanks to all of you.

21.01.2022 We are saddened to hear of the passing of QAS West Moreton Officer Glenn Dudley, following a sudden medical event on the 28/05/2021. Glenn touched the lives of many patients, peers and volunteers across the QAS and the community. His colleagues remember him as a funny and happy person who was a friend to so man...y. Glenn leaves behind three children and QAS Legacy Scheme is providing support at this time, including providing a platform to raise funds for his family. 15.01.2022 Today we have been reflecting on the tragic loss of Ambulance Officer Douglas John Bill Birch, Intensive Care Flight Paramedic Craig Staines, Pilot Paddy O’Brien and their five year old patient Anthony Sherry alongside his mother Susan. The five unfortunately passed away in a horrible helicopter crash that occurred during bad weather outside Marlborough 20 years ago today. Our thoughts go out to their loved ones on this day and to everyone who was involved in the case and attended the scene. We have no doubt that this day has been difficult for many. Forever missed.
14.01.2022 Did you know that as a QAS staff member, you can set up an automatic payroll deduction which is also tax deductible. For just $10 per fortnight you could help the QAS Legacy Scheme Inc. continue to financially assist many families of ambulance officers who pass. A sincere thank you to those who already help us so that we can continue helping so many. https://qaslegacy.org.au/donate/payroll-contributions
13.01.2022 Thank you to Mary McCulloch, Craig’s Mother for allowing us to share this beautiful acknowledgment of Craig’s memory. Craig’s work colleagues, his Dad, his Uncle Tim and Aunt Marg ( the family he stayed with in Mackay) got together to celebrate Craig’s life on the first anniversary of his death. Craig’s work colleagues and Tim and Marg have dedicated a seat at the site of the accident that claimed his life. Rob and Kylie, the beautiful people who stayed with my son and did what they could to save him graciously allowed them to do this in front of their property. Thank you again Rob and KylieTo everyone.... Thank you for caring about my son! RIP Craig xo

05.01.2022 Today we are remembering Captain Richard Bampton. Captain Bampton was a pilot for the Cairns Aerial Ambulance and passed away on this day, in 1953. Captain Bampton swam for half an hour with both legs badly injured before he unfortunately drowned after his Aerial Ambulance crashed into the sea off the North Queensland coast near Hinchinbrook Island. We are thinking of his loved ones who were left behind.

02.01.2022 QAS Legacy Scheme is assisting the Cairns and Hinterland LASN to support one of own officers, Petrina Neller after the loss of her husband.. Donations can be made at https://www.qaslegacy.org/petrina-neller-support ***We are aware of an issue where some users are unable to click the help now button or it gets stuck in a loop - this appears to be an intermittent error and if you choose the option to "open in Safari" it loads without issue - it also seems to only be impacting mobile phones not desk tops.***
