25.01.2022 All in a days work. Never a dull moment at Quarantine Bay Beach Cottages...

24.01.2022 Big seas here today and lots of entertainment but Maggie Mae is safetly tied up now!

24.01.2022 We have the power back on but with the thick smoke and nearby fires still not under control we do not think it is advisable for guests to return just yet. We will keep you up to date. Regards Jane and Rob xxx

22.01.2022 Fully restored Tall Ship James Craig

22.01.2022 Thank you everyone for your concerns for Wally. Wally is staying close by the house today. He seems to be doing fine but wasnt happy that we would not share our lunch with him. I might have to dig around in the freezer and see if I can find him some more fish!

22.01.2022 Hi everyone. We are still without power and may be for some weeks yet. I have managed to get some temporary internet but the phones are intermittent and we have no TV reception. It is a waiting game at the moment. There are some concerns about a weather change on Friday so we are still on Advise. At least we are getting some entertainment from the activities down at the boat ramp. Cheers Jane and Rob xxx

21.01.2022 Sitting here having a quiet pre dinner drink and watching the dolphins go pass. Magical...

20.01.2022 Just feed Wally. Nothing wrong with swallowing skills. He wanted more but I said no!

20.01.2022 Jim is ready for an early start tomorrow. The tide should be right and he wants fish for dinner. Last time he cooked a curry instead so here is wishing him lots of luck...

16.01.2022 Our new sign just in the time for Christmas!

16.01.2022 The Cottages are going to need their windows washed!! We believe the real danger has now passed but there are still many fires burning in our area. We havent got power restored and have been advised that it could be out for a couple of weeks as the repair crews are unable to access the area where the damage occurred. I would like to think we will reopen by the long weekend but it is too early to tell yet. At the moment they are asking tourists to stay away from the area. We ...have an 8kva generator powering the house in the interim so we have access to the internet when it is running. Still no TV as boosters in Cottages are without power, so we are relying on information through our phones. All deposits will be refunded when full power is restored. Rob and I would like to thank everyone for there messages of love and support over what has been a very difficult and emotional time. Quarantine Bay Beach Cottages will once again echo with the sounds of merry holiday makers! See more

16.01.2022 The water looks beautiful tonight but the breeze is a little chilly..

15.01.2022 Someone broke their toy...

15.01.2022 Even just a little bit would be nice...

14.01.2022 In the interest of our community, Quarantine Bay Beach Cottages have temporarily closed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. There are currently eight people fishing on the floating pontoon at Quarantine Bay as well as 5 or 6 people at the fish cleaning tables plus three groups of people on the beach. In addition we have watched a dozen or more boats go out fishing. Some with 3 or 4 people on board. We dont think the Stay at Home message or 1.5 metre Social Distancing messages have got through to some people!

14.01.2022 Tall Ship James Craig

14.01.2022 Crane in position... waiting.

12.01.2022 We are back in business!!! Having fully self contained Cottages helps...

12.01.2022 From the archives. The colours at Quarantine that evening were straight out of a box of foil-wrapped lollies!

11.01.2022 Sapphire Coast Cranes to the rescue...

11.01.2022 Wally is back. He still has a small hole in his upper beak and a tear in his lower beak but he managed to eat the fish fillets I gave him and he seems happy enough!

10.01.2022 We have a resident pelican we call Wally. A few months ago he came to the door looking for help. With the help of our neighbours we managed to remove the fish hook and line from inside his bill and another one from his wing. We also attended to his neck wound. Until today we had not seen him since...

10.01.2022 We have another visitor. He looks like he is on a mission!

10.01.2022 Mr I never win anything just won a roll of toilet paper!!! Lots of fun at the raffles tonight...

10.01.2022 Back on it's mooring... where it belongs!!!

09.01.2022 Wally came to visit us again today. It was so good to see him but he needed some more help. We managed to catch him and remove a 6.5mm filed down nail from his beak. Fishing hooks I can understsnd but a hand sharpened nail... that is no accident. Fortunately, Wally is ok now and his old wounds have healed. He is such a friendly fellow I dont understand why anyone would do this to him.

09.01.2022 It is very busy at Quarantine Bay this morning and the barges are still rolling in loaded with what look like water carriers and generators and all sorts of other goodies. The Captains are getting heaps of practice with their landings!

09.01.2022 Our first smoke free day and to make things even better Wally is back!!!

08.01.2022 Our resident pelican. Rob has named him/her Wally. Really, now that is original!!!

07.01.2022 Two years ago today we made a decision that would change our lives... good decision I reacon!!!

06.01.2022 Back on its mooring... where it belongs!!!

05.01.2022 We are still here. Tired and covered in ash but we are still here. We made the decision to stay and defend and while it was the right decision, I would never want to live through the last 36 hours again. We are sorry for all of you who have had to cancel and refunds will be forthcoming. It will be a few days until we know when it is safe to reopen. Thank you to everyone who sent messages of love and support. It meant so much even though we could not reply. We had to conserve our batteries. We will rest now and post again soon but for now, just know that we are safe, and our beautiful Quarantine Bay Beach Cottages are standing tall and proud amidst an eerie smoke haze. Love to you all. Jane and Rob

05.01.2022 What a way to end a beautiful day. Have a couple of lines in but I think it will be toasted sandwiches for tea. We did go to the pub for lunch....
