25.01.2022 We are delighted to collaborate with Kitchen NV to bring you the excellent Cat’s Pyjamas coffee from the roasters of Black Mountain Coffee and Julia's delicious Genovese style focaccia and French pastries with traditional home style cakes. Her style combines the best of modern French training with our passion for local produce presented in a simple rustic style. She makes everything from the jams and crystallised fruits on our cakes to our breads, brioche and croissants. They... are excellent quality and so worth the journey to get. Come and see for yourself and support our local businesses. Available from The Qbn Hive 8.30am-2pm, Tuesday - Friday

23.01.2022 So we found out recently that James Buchanan Young and his wife rented our cottage from William Oldfield from around 1914, and they lived here all through the time he was establishing what became his retail empire. His first flagship store is seen here on the right. It would have been a nice short commute from the Hive for good old JB. Stay tuned for details of our profoundly fascinating upcoming April art-meets-history show where, among other things, we delve into what we now know about the history of the Hive. It's part of Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council's excellent heritage festival and the overlapping NSW and Australian Heritage festivals too. Check out what else the council has on its program locally. It's all going to bee pretty awesome
23.01.2022 ‘Aboriginality NT 1989’ Connee-Colleen in the Hive Gallery. Last days to see this free exhibition. 10-4 pm until Sunday 15th

21.01.2022 So beautiful- dont forget Lucys playing at the Hive 17 April
21.01.2022 Better to safe rather than sorry atm. Good call Lucy. Tough call, but the right one. Stay tuned - we will reschedule this magical concert when things feel a bit less like an unlikely airport disaster novel. Whenever that will bee. We love you Lucy Sugerman and we feel for you and so many other similarly super talented artists having to cancel massive swathes of their own work or have it canceled on them due to COVID-19. Lets call it postponed people - nobody cancels Lucy Sugerman at the Hive! Anyone who's paid will get paid back in the next three days, and watch this space we will let you know the new date when we do.
21.01.2022 How to help artists survive the viral shutdown
20.01.2022 With the weather looking good for tomorrow we are still going ahead with this workshop. If it is only Brett and me then perhaps we could run a virtual workshop for your future paving knowledge.... I have already learnt in the last two days what it takes to prepare a good base and without this knowledge I would have paid too much for a sub-standard job. Hoping you can join us tomorrow for more tips and tricks. @The Hive Carpark!
19.01.2022 We love BMA Magazine and have a special soft spot for their excellent 'Locality' column. Thanks for the support guys, this link will bee very handy for people wondering WTH we are trying to do here
19.01.2022 Just when you want a flash mob for an awesome video shoot outside the Hive it is not possible! Our World Bee Day celebrations will sadly bee uneventful this year but I do encourage you to join in this Challenge to set the World record for Waggling. We really do want to celebrate bees and raise awareness of the important role they play for food security and ecosystem health. The Dance looks loads of silly fun and we will keep you posted with our waggle dance progress.
19.01.2022 The weather is getting better and better and we are getting more excited for Endrey and Nick Craft tonight!

15.01.2022 So much work, blood, sweat and tears has gone into this exhibition I do not want to take it down so we are extending it another week.! This remarkable woman's story is well worth knowing exploring and everything she stands for resinates with me.
14.01.2022 Bee-p Bee-p yeah!
14.01.2022 For all our artists with an interest in applying for grants during this difficult time then this would be a great course to do. $298 for Non-Members or $243 for NAVA members.

12.01.2022 Paving with Good Intentions! Getting paving done or helping someone who is? Fancy learning how to do it yourself and helping us at the same time?... We are preparing the back yard for our "Hexagons within Hexagon Paving Workshop" led by local master craftsman Brett Jacobsen (who so immaculately paved our gorgeous front courtyard and side path) on Saturday 21st March. Its a chance for you to help us get a big job done, while learning how to do it yourself. Why are we doing this? When we changed the use of our commercial premises from business to gallery/retail, it triggered a regulatory need to upgrade our parking spaces to be bitumen, concrete or paving in order to 'line mark' the 3 car spots! We have been collecting recycled pavers for this purpose. Some are originally from the fabled forecourts of the Tuggeranong Hyperdome. Wed love to pave the whole yard and drive like this, but at this stage we can only afford to do the required car park area. Limited Spots for this Free workshop! What you will get: a free lesson from a master, morning tea and lunch. What we will get: your time and energy and a completed carpark! Please register via our website: https://www.qbnhive.buzz/workshops
12.01.2022 The Queanbeyan Hives mission is to support and foster events, aiming to bring together people with real life experiences. With the unfolding of the last few weeks this is now not possible. This is really hard but necessary to tell you were shutting down for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19 and the imperative of social/physical distancing. All the shows and events that we have been working on have been cancelled and postponed until this threat to all of us is over. T...hat could be months away. Rest assured we will be working away behind the scenes upgrading our infrastructure, applying for grants and working on our future amazing public arts events that we will launch with pride and joy when the time is right. Bee safe. Bee healthy. Bee smart. Bee secure in the knowledge that we love you and were not going anywhere. We will try our best to keep you up-to-date on any progress made during these hard times.
11.01.2022 Here is a beautiful song that Lucy recorded in The Hive just before the Nation ground to a halt. On this blustery cold day I am warmed by the love Lucy has for her parents and this video created inside our little sunny 1910 cottage.
11.01.2022 We are preparing the yard for our "Hexagons within Hexagon Paving Workshop" to be lead by our local Brett Jacobson (who paved our gorgeous front yard) on Saturday 21st March. More info to come soon. With the change of use of our commercial premise from business to gallery/retail space came the new building codes to have a concrete, bitumen or paved carpark area. All for what? The sake of line-marking to make sure you park it in the right spot. Do not get me started on this topic as I could rant for ages. We moved these second hand hexagon pavers last year that were originally from Hyperdome and have finally come up with achievable design to work with on the day. Save this date if you would like to learn the basics in laying paving for you next DIY project and help us achieve this very important milestone.
10.01.2022 Not many people sculpture the AGED. Connee-Colleen is one of the rare artists that have really captured the essence of Queanbeyan's local characters in the last years of their lives. If you would like to learn more about this amazing woman and to see her works then we are open until 9pm tonight.

06.01.2022 It has been a tough time lately so what a welcome and nice surprise to have our new member for Eden-Monaro come to see what is happening in our local arts scene. It has been a breath of fresh air for me to know we have a politician that is keen to come and have a chat, to talk about small business and where we are at. This gives me hope to keep on going. QB Helen

02.01.2022 We are still buzzing from the amazing from this guy. What an absolutely beautiful experience it was to witness the astounding solo concert Endrey gave us, after the already powerful Tristan Davies and Jess High playing both solo and together. The night had begun well with an emerging QBN star Jerikye Williams. It ended on a high with a long spellbinding songstream from solo Endrey. It was topped off by a sublime triplet of songs as Endrey was joined by erstwhile bandmates Tristan and Jess and. It. Was. Gutwrenchingly. Gorgeous. Pure alchemy. So happy and so proud to have brought such great entertainment to QBN CBD what a wonderful night stay tuned more like this to come (hopefully! come back soon Chris!)

01.01.2022 This current exhibition brings me much joy during these quite stressful times we find ourselves in. I encourage you to step outside this weekend (if you are feeling healthy) and come and enjoy the art in this not so crowded Gallery! Have a conversation and connect with the artists who are happy to share their passion and stories of their beautiful creations. Gallery open 10-4pm Saturday and Sunday. #Supportlocalartists
