14.01.2022 Whats the number 1 question we receive at QCTS? What is Foam Bitumen and what does it do? Foam bitumen is produced by injecting small amounts of water in conjunction with air to hot bitumen. When injected at high pressure the water evaporates instantaneously forming a bubble surrounded by oil. This cause the bitumen to expand to around 20 times its original volume. This bitumen is now ready to be added into a mixer with suitable construction materials. This process creates a visco-elastic material which once compacted is strong, moisture resistant, flexible, non-temperature sensitive, environmentally friendly, sustainable and durable.
