25.01.2022 Where is that green sheep? Found her plus a friend!

25.01.2022 Had our branch AGM on Saturday 18 July. Thank you to Longreach Regional Council Deputy Mayor Leonie Nunn for chairing the meeting. All office bearer positions were filled. Returning are President Fiona Owens, Vice President Joanne Warren, Treasurer Jocelyn Stephenson welcome to new secretary Andrea Williams who is also our international officer. We had Ros Nankervis stepping out as secretary after four years and Ros has taken on the position of Hall Convenor . Had a lovely young teacher come along to see what we are about and hopefully will become a member, Two of my grand daughters Kayleigh 11 and Heidi 8 were visiting and wanted to come with Nan , so they were excellent helpers in the carrying of chairs and setting up of tables even joined us to sing the National Anthem!

18.01.2022 Our first market day for 2020. Freezing cold and blustery but the sun was out so the people came out to look. Home cooked goodies very popular with tourists and plants for the locals.

17.01.2022 Mini regions conference in Longreach was a great learning event for many of of us. Started with a public morning tea with 22 guests coming along to share a cuppa and hear about CWA. Then it was down to business, with numerous presentations form SEB members, The County Kitchens girls had us up out of those chairs for some Tai Chi to wake up the brain and loosen stiff muscles. Later in the afternoon, some of the group helped prepared a delicious CK dinner while others made felt... fruit and vegetables. They look really good in a bowl. Day two more school with lots of information to take in , writing resolutions then putting up the resolution to the meeting. Finished up with the drawing if the lucky door prize and multi draw raffle congratulations to all the winners. A little game of where is the green Sheep . Had to find two green sheep hidden in the room. Our State President wasn’t passing up a challenge and she even found both to win the prize ( NOT a green sheep). Thank you ladies who travelled to Longreach to make the conferences a success. All the shop keepers are grateful for your support too, For those who have asked, pattern for crochet hibiscus flowers. No leaves with this one. See more

14.01.2022 To celebrate QCWA 98th birthday Longreach branch had not only a Sconversation but a Sconathon as well this morning. With some 120 plus scones baked, bagged ( in green biodegradable ) snaplock bags in twos with a Sconversation attache of, some CWA history and achievements. With our big shopping bags in hand we walked the Main Street on both sides and delivered a scone pack to all businesses. Well doing something nice for others is wonderful for your own soul , everyone was so appreciative big thank you and smiles certainly made my day. Maybe we will gain a new member or two as well.

13.01.2022 Some lovely sheep fabrics I found yesterday. The dotty ones also come on red background and middle piece can be pink or blue backgrounds.

11.01.2022 A different angle on the subject of sheep. This little recipe book is 1969 vintage. The blurb on the back states sheep an ovine ruminant with a woolly coat and edible flesh. So often doomed to appear on the table in an unvarying routine of grills, roasts and stews but here are 101 ways to prepare lamb, hogged and mutton. Turkish lamb, Drovers dream, Moroccan Keftan, German Pickled Mutton, Spanish Mutton and Australia Goose , there are countless dishes which demonstrate the palatable delights of sheep flesh .

08.01.2022 a beautiful Healthy party snack idea for the kids
