21.01.2022 Although, supporting Queensland women and families is our primary focus, the QCWA works to educate, advocate and support women beyond our borders, through our I...nternational Program. The QCWA provides support in a range of practical ways, via affiliations and projects, particularly in the South Pacific region. The QCWA nominates a Country of Study for the International Program’s awareness and fundraising activities. The Country of Study is launched at the International Study Conference held annually. In 2021, the International Study Conference will be held in Longreach between 19th and 21st February 2021. The Conference is open to QCWA Members. In 2021 the country of study is Malaysia.

15.01.2022 Barely the day has started and it's already six in the evening. Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday, the month is half over and the year is half over. Already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed, we realize that we lost our parents, friends and we realize it's too late to go back. So, lets try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time. Let's keep looking for activities that we like. Let's put some colour in our gray. Let's smile at the little thi...ngs in life that put balm in our hearts. And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let's try to eliminate the afters: I'm doing it after... I'll say it after... I'll think about it after... We leave everything for later like after is ours. What we don't understand is that: Afterwards, the coffee gets cold... afterwards, priorities change... Afterwards, the charm is broken... Afterwards, health passes... Afterwards, the kids grow up... Afterwards parents get old... Afterwards, promises are forgotten... Afterwards, the day becomes the night... Afterwards, life ends... And then it's too late. So, Let's leave nothing for later, because we will still be waiting to see you later. We will lose the best moments, the best experiences, the best friends and the best family. The day is today. The moment is now. We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone what needs to be done right away. So lets see if you have time to read this message and then share it. Or maybe you'll leave it for later. Thank you for remembering Joy who didnt leave anything for later

08.01.2022 Queensland children are presenting with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a dangerous complication of undiagnosed type 1 diabetes, at alarming rates. Jaxon Pearce is one of those children. By the time Jaxon’s diabetes was diagnosed, the 20-month-old was in DKA, his blood sugar levels had surged and acidic substances called ketones had built up to dangerous levels in his body. A finger-prick glucose test at the emergency department saved his life. This World Diabetes Day, we want you to know the four signs of type 1 diabetes toilet (frequent urination or bedwetting), thirsty (always asking for fluids), tired (adequate sleep but still tired) and thinner (losing weight). If your child has one or more of these symptoms urgently ask your GP for a finger-prick blood glucose test. It’s easy, fast and could save your child’s life.

04.01.2022 Queensland Country Womens Association City Heart accommodation re-opening If you're visiting Townsville from the bush, why not stay at the QCWA Norther...n Division's Denham Street units? After being closed for six months due to COVID-19, I caught up with QCWA Northern Division president Jeanette Weston ahead of the public reopening this Thursday. The QCWA is offering a special three night package in a double or twin room starting at $240. The units are ideally located in the heart of the city, walking distance to the Stadium, The Strand, Palmer and Flinders St, Casino, Magnetic Island, churches and Sunday Markets. With a number of Cowboys games and the Jeff Horn vs Tim Tszyu boxing match coming up, staying with the QCWA is a good way to support a local organisation that gives back to communities across rural and regional Australia. You can also opt to stay at the QCWA's Kissing Point Units, which is another great location close to the city. To book, call 4724 4200.
04.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what advocacy work ACWW has actually done, or struggled to explain our advocacy to others? We've created this for you. As Women Walk the ...World approaches, and we look toward raising funds for Pennies for Friendship, it is important that we all understand why advocacy is vital for ensuring the sustained impact of all other initiatives, including projects. The success of our projects is directly dependent on impactful, strategic advocacy, because it is through advocacy that we can change the context in which rural women live and work, ensuring long-term, lasting progress. Visit https://www.acww.org.uk/resources_publications.html to download the Advocacy Impact Report (and remember, if you share this post, copy and paste the text!) See more
