24.01.2022 Ever wondered what an industrial complex looks like at night? Check out the photo below to view our Ethylene Sphere and distillation columns amongst the rest of the Botany Industrial Park. The sun may go down, but the work on our Site doesnt stop. We operate 24 hours/day all year round.... Four manufacturing plants spread across 32 hectares, with structures rising up to 72m into the sky. Follow us to find out more.

12.01.2022 You may have seen flaring on our site, but what is flaring and why do we do it? Flaring is necessary when we need to remove flammable gases from within our systems. This gas is safely burned or flared instead of being vented to the environment. The excess gas cannot be reused or recycled which makes flaring our most responsible option. Flares are a major safety feature and environmental management tool for a number of industries including refineries and petrochemical compani...es. On the Qenos site we have several different types of flares, the most recognisable being the 72m tall elevated flare stack depicted above for the Olefines Plant. Flaring may be seen from the area around our Site including Eastgardens Shopping Centre, Banksmeadow, Botany, Hillsdale, Matraville and Sydney Airport and occasionally as far away as the CBD. Various activities can require the use of the flaring system. These may include starting or stopping the plant for maintenance, when we activate a safety shutdowns, purging of gases, or during events such as power failures. Qenos aims to minimise the use of our flares and the duration of flaring as much as possible. Seeing a flare in action can be quite extraordinary and concerning due to the brightness and noise that may accompany it. Inclement weather can further enhance the impact of flaring by illuminating cloud cover creating a remarkable effect in the sky. As a community member this may be a bit unusual at first but remember that the operation of the flare is safe and will usually not continue for long. 12.01.2022 The Qenos Olefines Plant will be undertaking maintenance work this week and it is possible that you may see the elevated flare (in the north western corner of our Site) operate on Thursday 17/09 between 7 and 10 am. Please be assured that this is not an emergency but a controlled event to safely burn plant gases. For more information on flaring follow this link: http://www.qenos.com//Sustainability-Community-BotanyCommu... Communication between Qenos the EPA, Fire & Rescue, and the NSW Police is standard procedure during flaring events.
