25.01.2022 Getting inspired and excited for our up coming Sipping and Forgetting Tea Room (temporary name). We are looking forward to adding this traditional life cultivating activity to our academy. Photos are downloaded from Chinese websites

22.01.2022 Beautiful memory. Renowned Gu Qin Artists in Melbourne to perform at the 2018 Melbourne Festival visited Qing Jing Kung Fu. They are from Wang Peng's Jun Tian Fang Gu Qin Art Center in Beijing.

20.01.2022 Ms. Zhang Lu ('Lu Lu') is a highly accomplished musician. She is also my Guqin teacher, and I am proud to say, my dear friend. Lu Lu started learning Guqin when she was 11. Her teacher, Professor Zhao Jiazhen, is herself a disciple of the Guqin Grand Master Gong Yi. Lu Lu studied at China's Central Conservatory of Music (whose notable alumni include the celebrated composer and Oscar Winner Tan Dun, internationally renown pianists Lang Lang and Wang Yujia, and violinist Va...nessa Mae). Lu Lu has also performed around the world, bringing the Guqin to new audiences including here is Australia. I was very fortunate to meet her when I went to see the performance of 'One Infinity' at the Melbourne Art Festival 2018. We were also privileged to meet the entire team of Chinese musicians for that performance, led by Mr. Wang Peng. I was so impressed by 'One Infinity' that I flew to Sydney to see see them perform it again for the Sydney Art Festival 2019. The same year, I visited Beijing twice and stayed at Wang Peng's Jun Tian Fang. There, I was excited and a little nervous to begin learning from Lu Lu. She selected "Drunken Fisherman"() for me to study. It was a huge challenge. I thought I would never get through it. Lu Lu emphasises the importance of a solid foundation, regardless of age of the student. She also pays a lot of attention to detail. However, she is one of the most loving and patient teachers I have ever met. She is friendly, encouraging, yet strict. She puts her whole heart into her teaching. I am now the proud owner of a 'Yiru Guqin' from Mr. Wang Peng. It has become my 'best friend', my treasure! And I am so lucky to have been able to continue learning from Lu Lu even though we live in different hemispheres. She delivers detailed classes, very patiently and enthusiastically, via Wechat. I love it! This year, I stated learning a new piece: Missing an Old Friend (''). Lu Lu is just wonderful! I love her and respect her with my whole heart. I am so lucky to have such a teacher. I have attached a video of one of her performances for your enjoyment. (Note, you need to wait for a bit before the video starts). See more

19.01.2022 This is Shaolin Buddhist martial monk Master Shi Dejian. The video was filmed only two weeks ago in his Mt Song Monastery in Henan, China. These 15 seconds demonstrate 30+ years of dedicated Chan Wu Yi ( Zen Martial Arts) practice. It's hard to believe he is almost 60!

18.01.2022 A milestone birthday and The Sipping and Forgetting Tea Room (working title) is taking shape.

18.01.2022 On the day of the Mid Autumn Festival I posted a photo of a magic moon reflected in one of the dams at our academy. The video below is a wonderful Gu Qing performance of "Bright Moon" by Ms. Zhang Lu, my dear Gu Qin teacher, on that same day. I hope this brings you some joy during the lockdown.

15.01.2022 Qing Jing Kung Fu wishes you all a Happy Mid Autumn Festival! Stay safe and well.

11.01.2022 I was born in China, so I grew up drinking tea. I remember as a child being given 10 fen (about 2 cents) to buy 50 grams of tea leaves wrapped in plain light brown paper. That was the best thirst quenching drink in Nanjing's near 40 degree summer - not a sweet soft drink. Since then I have travelled into deep mountains in China to explore tea. I have also dropped into numerous tea houses all over China to taste their teas. I have even made two short movies about Chinese tea culture. So now I am planning to develop a unique tea drinking experience - a Chinese tearoom, temporarily called "Sipping and Forgetting Tea Room" in our vineyard based academy. I will keep you informed as this project develops.

08.01.2022 Beautiful memory from last year at Beijing Jun Tian Fang Gu Qin Arts Center

06.01.2022 I was sorting out some footage that my team filmed in China a couple years ago. I found this short movie about my niece's experience in Shaolin. Decided to share it here. Hope you enjoy it.

05.01.2022 Shifu Rui Zihe Jeff Reid) studied Daoist wushu and cultivation practice assiduously for more than 10 years. This included 7 years’ traditional training in Daoist philosophy and practice (including wushu, meditation, qigong and Daoist chanting and singing) in China’s Wudang mountains. During this period, he also became proficient in Mandarin Chinese. As a result, Zihe has a deep understanding of, and appreciation for, the Daoist tradition. This inspires his teaching. He h...as developed a unique variety of engaging teaching methods. His students come all walks of life, and find his classes both stimulating and inspiring. I recently joined his US and UK students in a 5- week online course called ‘Navigating Uncertainty A Daoist Practice’. I found it really enjoyable and rewarding, so much so that I would now like to share some of this wisdom with like-minded. So Qing Jing Kung Fu is sponsoring a free 90 minute on-line lecture about ‘Daoist Cosmology and Cultivation’.
