23.01.2022 Our own member Jacquie Goldstaiz is an incredible inspiration and amazing teacher and cake decorator. Since commencing her full time cake decorating and teaching career she has won many awards including many as Show Champion. She puts her great success down to having a thorough knowledge of the foundations. If you've ever had a problem with ganache or fondant Jacqui's foundations hands-on workshop at Qld Cake Expo is one you shouldn't miss. Her workshop is full of hints and tips. After this workshop you will set your sights on competition work and down the track show champion. Book your tickets here www.qldcakeexpo.com.au
23.01.2022 In addition to Jessica Pedemont's amazing paid hands-on workshops she will be doing a one hour amazing free dem each day within the Exhibition Pavilion at Qld Cake Expo from 17-19th June. With the increasing emergence of the ever popular drip cake, Jessica will teach you how to make a delectable range of confectionery you can use to top them. We love her work and style of teaching. She can create magical treats and makes everything seem so simple. At her free dems you will n...ot only learn how to make her delicious treats you will be able to taste them! To tease your tastebuds here is just a sample of what she will be making: the most amazing marshmallow, French style vanilla almonds and nougat. There is no need to book for the free dems. There will be four free dem areas within the Exhibition Pavilion you will be able to stroll between them. 19.01.2022 We've received a number of queries about accessing entry and high-tea tickets for QLD Cake Expo. At this stage we are not planning to sell tickets at the door. We believe tickets will sell out on-line well before the event. To be safe you are best to plan ahead and pre-purchase your tickets online. My advice, given the incredible interest in this event, is to book your tickets sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. It is a very easy process. We've also ensured th...e online payment system is safe so please don't feel nervous about making the online payment All you need to do is go to our website www.qldcakeexpo.com.au and press any of the 'book here' buttons. They will take you to all the ticket options. Just scroll down to find the one you want. It's quick and very easy. If you are unsure or need help please contact me In relation to tickets for the High-Tea, if you are arriving after 4pm and coming purely for the high-tea, you do not need a separate Qld Cake Expo entry ticket. However if you are arriving prior to 4pm and want to visit the cakes, live cake off challenge, any of the free dems or exhibition Pavilion, you WILL need a QLD Cake Expo entry ticket as the High-Tea is a separate private ticketed event. At $20 it's incredible value and where all your cake artists will be at the one time. In my opinion it's definitely an event not to be missed There will be limited numbers for the High-Tea so please book your tickets quickly to avoid disappointment. The tickets for this event are the same price regardless of whether you are a QCDA member or member of the public I hope this helps President Joan Ph 0412100750

12.01.2022 What a great tutorial. It would work equally as well on fondant or for painting on modeling chocolate. If you want to experiment using an airbrush simply unscrew the end of your airbrush to expose the fine tip at the end. This is how professional airbrush artists achieve very fine lines and the eye lash effect. This year we have introduced a great air brushing section to our Qld Cake Expo Cake Decorating competition. There are so many inspirational videos available on the n...et like this one. Why not let your imagination run wild and create them in cake. Can't wait to see this section of Qld Cake Expo's cake decorating competition. Have you got your entry form in yet? If you need the competition schedule, entry form or judges prop sheet you can download them in pdf format from the Qld Cake Expo Website www.qldcakeexpo.com.au. There's thousands of $$$$ in prize money this year, but don't forget.... You have to be in it to win it!

03.01.2022 This is excellent advice. Thank you Helen Robinson for originally posting it. Many cake decorators make cakes as their hobby or just for friends or family. Many however are building or wanting to build a serious business. How to price cakes and how to run a successful sustainable profitable cake business is an important topic. It is however only one aspect of running a cake decorating business. Would you be interested if we ran a workshop on this at QLD Cake Expo There are... many aspects of starting and building a cake business including legislative requirements, developing a business plan, identifying your key strengths and unique market, a competitive analysis, how to gain a competitive edge, marketing, promotion, accounts, setting up terms of business, occupational health and safety and establishing a network of wholesale suppliers. If we get enough interest we will cover all these aspects in one 3 hour workshop. The workshop would include comprehensive notes and cost $95. This workshop would not be run to earn a profit. It would be run to help members, prospective members and the public. We'd like to run it for free but unfortunately we need to cover our costs. Please put your name down as a comment if you'd be interested? QCDA President Joan
