05.01.2022 Why not host a covid-safe morning tea and view the event with a support network? You could invite people who may not have easy access to an online event.

05.01.2022 We are showing this video today to mark the 8th Anniversary of the Queensland Apology for Former Forced Adoption Policies and Practices. This year has seen many changes, and the global pandemic has prevented us from joining together in person as we have done in previous years. Due to the commitment of the Apology Event Planning Committee (in collaboration with Adoption and Permanent Care Services and the Benevolent Society), to ensuring that the effects of former forced adop...tions are never overlooked, this year’s tribute will proceed - but in a different way. As we were unable to attend the Queensland Apology Memorial site at the Roma Street Parklands, some of our post adoption stakeholders have gathered earlier in the year to reflect upon changes in practices and upon their diverse experiences as mothers or as an adopted person. Meeting outside brought some technical challenges and so we apologise for the sound quality in some of the videos. Marking this event affirms the Queensland Government’s commitment to righting the wrongs of the past and continuing to provide support to the post adoption community, while raising awareness of the significant impact forced adoption continues to have on many members of our community. We hope you enjoy the video to come.
