16.01.2022 What a wonderful community project which brings such joy to our elders.
16.01.2022 Situation critical. This is how dry it is at our place. My wife just took this photo of our backyard and paddocks. So dry, the kangaroos are drinking out of our... dog bowl. Were lucky we dont rely on the farm for income but so many in regional Australia do. Its so sad right now. In many places its the worst drought since records began. Theres not only a financial toll but also a mental and emotional one. Some families are at breaking point, unable to afford food & with no choice but to shoot their stock so they dont starve & suffer a slow death. Mental health issues have risen 70% in our region & suicide by farmers is the most tragic consequence of such a drastic situation. Farmers harvest our food and the materials for the clothes on our back... please think of them. We need them. They need us. Thats why we support @ruralaid and @buyabale . See more

11.01.2022 There is a report in Courier Mail that the Goodwill Bridge will be repainted maroon. I am sure everyone will be happy provided it is no longer slippery. But ... what do you think of the colour choice? https://www.couriermail.com.au//08904a92ad073bea34478bb757

09.01.2022 Claim Farming - For the uninitiated claim farming is when a member of the public receives a cold-call or email from a claim farmer, enquiring about whether that person has had a motor vehicle accident. The claim farmer offers to assist them in preparing and submitting a CTP claim regardless of whether an injury occurred as a result of the accident. The claim farmer often entices possible claimants to submit claims by guaranteeing or advising the claimant of a set figure t...hat they would be entitled to. Once a person has confirmed their details and agrees to submit a claim, the claim farmer provides their personal details to a third party, typically a lawyer or law firm, who then allegedly pays the claim farmer a set fee for providing the referral. If you are contacted by a claim farmer, you should make detailed records of where they are calling from (if they disclose that information) and their contact number, before ending the call as soon as possible. At no point should you give out your personal details to the caller. You should then contact the Motor Accident Insurance Commission on 1300 302 568, via the website, www.maic.qld.gov.au or by email to [email protected] who can help you to determine the validity of the call. It is also recommended that you obtain legal advice on the call from an experienced lawyer practicing in the area of personal injury law as they will be able to tell the difference between a call from a genuine insurer who is trying to progress your claim and a claim farmer. If you suspect that you have been contacted by a claim farmer and are unsure of what to do next, please contact us on 1800 726 676 for advice.

06.01.2022 Many of Jackie Trads constituents in East Brisbane and Woolloongabba cycle home along the footpath on Stanley Street every day because there is no alternative ...route. The journey involves crossing an unsignalised slip lane where motorists avoiding the toll on the CLEM7 cut across town to the Pacific Motorway. It is supposed to be closed from 4-6pm. Councils response to feedback about the proposed permanent closure of the slip lane to enable the Woolloongabba Bikeway was: "Council consulted with the Department of Transport and Main Roads about the closure of the on-ramp and undertook significant traffic modelling on the closure. A number of alternative options were investigated, however the option chosen to remove the left-turn slip lane provides the safest route for cyclists..." By vetoing the slip lane closure, Jackie Trad MP and Road Safety Minister Mark Bailey MP - Labor for Miller have ruled out the safest solution. Thats bad news for pedestrians and cyclists on this popular route.
