23.01.2022 QFS JANUARY MEETING CANCELLED As a result of the 3 day COVID lockdown for Greater Brisbane announced from 6pm today (Friday, January 8), the QFS January meeting scheduled for tonight is CANCELLED. We will provide further advice about the bird sale on January 17.

17.01.2022 SUCCESSFUL FINCH AUCTION FOR QFS On Sunday, September 13, QFS staged its normal September Auction, although it wasnt quite "normal". Obviously the event operated under a COVID-19 Management Plan, which enforced social distancing, plenty of hand sanitiser, through cleandowns of all chairs and tables, no food available, no cash used etc. We restricted entry to bidders only, so unfortunately children and partners could not attend. Nonetheless the event went off very well. We had... 72 registered bidders, more than last year!, and 134 lots. We had expected there would be more lots and would have accommodated 250. The entered lots reflected a good range of species including Masks, Pictorellas, Hecks, Diamonds, Gouldians, Stars, Yellowrumps, Doublebars, Chestnuts, Crimsons, Blue-Faced Parrotfinches, Fawn Painteds among the Australian species. No Yellow Billed Longtails, Parsons or Diggles though. Also many Exotics such as Ruddies, Orangbreasts, Cordons, Pied Cordons, Tri-Coloured Parrot finches, Auroras, Melbas, Red Strawberries, Green Singers, Golden Song Sparrows, Red-Faced Parrotfinches etc. Also some pairs of pure Turquoisine Parrots, Spinifex Pigeons and Painted Button Quail. So a great mix. Prices were very good (for the sellers) and very few lots were passed in. Hecks were up to $110, Gouldians $100, Crimsons $240, Masks $150, Song Sparrows $210, Auroras $80 to $110. A full report will appear in the next Finch News. We thank all involved for their compliance with COVID requirements. Images show the hall set out with spaced seating, inspecting the birds in single file moving in one direction, the bidders seated in the hall (including some couples allowed to sit side by side) See more
