23.01.2022 Snowflake, Chuckles and Indie are three gorgeous two year old girls who are looking for their forever home together. These girls are really sweet and gentle piggies who love to be cuddled. They are the best of friends and get on together fantastically. Snowflake, Chuckles and Indie must be adopted together as they are a bonded trio. If you’d like to adopt these piggies please complete our adoption enquiry form at http://www.qldguineapigrefuge.com.au/adoption-application-f
23.01.2022 Yesterday we received an urgent message from Jimboomba Vets about some piggies needing a place to go. They discovered a box at their door containing two dumped little girls. We won’t ever know why someone left them there, but they’re very sweet and it won’t be long until they’re ready for new homes. The third, now named Edna, had been living at the Clinic for 5 months. She was brought in by her previous owner to be euthanised due to a bad case of mange. The vets there kindly opened their doors to her, treating her mange instead. We’ll finish off her medical care now until she’s already ready for a forever home
21.01.2022 Please meet Cotton (white and buff - born 24/02/2020) and Candy (black, buff and white - born 24/10/2019). These girls are so sweet and gentle in nature. They love food and are always wheeking for veggies as soon as they hear the the fridge door open. Cotton and Candy require fleece bedding due to Candy’s coat type which also requires regular grooming to prevent her long curly hair from matting. They are suitable for children under supervision. Cotton and Candy must be adopted together as they are a bonded pair. If you’d like to adopt these piggies please complete our adoption enquiry form at http://www.qldguineapigrefuge.com.au/adoption-application-f
14.01.2022 With many areas of Australia expecting a heat wave to start today, please make sure you keep your piggies cool.
10.01.2022 WE NEED HELP As the holiday season has arrived our usual annual influx of surrender forms has come with it. In past years, we've managed this influx of piggies due to adoptions freeing up space. However this year, thanks to the financial burden of COVID-19 and the large number of travelling families due to the recent boarders reopening, adoptions aren't happening and we're just out of space. If you could help foster a cage of piggies, we want to hear from you. We're looking f...or families and individuals who are able to house foster piggies inside their homes until approximately February 2021 (or longer if you'd like) to help us get through this intense surrender period. We can help by supplying a loan cage if needed, we just need space for these little guys to go. If you'd like to help, please fill out a foster application at http://www.qldguineapigrefuge.com.au/foster-carer-applicati

02.01.2022 Our three little orphans are so far thriving and keeping their foster carer busy with 1 1/2 hourly feeds. Mousey, Moss and Firefly are adorable little twerps that love doing zoomies around their humidicrib especially at 1am in the morning.
02.01.2022 We’ve spent the last 6 months trying to avoid this moment, and it breaks our heart to do this, however with a waitlist that’s now beyond out of control it’s time to close to surrenders for now. What does this mean? We won’t be accepting any new surrender forms until our current waitlist of surrenders is in care. So if you’re on our waitlist don’t worry, you’re still there, and we’ll contact you when we have space. As always, exceptions to this closure are in place for ex-QG...PR pigs (if you adopted from us and need to return your pigs, we’ll absolutely accept them), strays and medical needs pigs. We will always find space for them. Unfortunately the last 6 months have been the toughest we’ve seen in our 8 years of running - less adoptions, more surrenders, less money coming in, more money going out. Hopefully soon things will level out and we’ll be back to running as usual, however right now we’ve hit our capacity. We will always be here doing our thing and helping as many piggies as we can.
01.01.2022 EXTREME HEAT WAVE THE NEXY FIVE DAYS!! With the whole of Australia about to experience an extreme heat wave event it is extremely important all piggie owners act now to ensure your pets are able to survive the heat of the next few days. Guinea pigs can not survive these extreme temperatures outside even in full shade. They need to be inside in air conditioning. If you don’t have air conditioning make sure you have them in a well ventilated area with frozen water bricks. Each... pig needs it own brick and you need to have more in your freezer ready to replace the used one as soon as they are no longer cold. If you don’t have a cage to bring them inside place them in your bath tub that’s lined with old towels. Make sure you provide plenty of cool drinking water. Guinea pigs will drink more when in air conditioning. Pieces of cold melon and cucumber can also help keep them hydrated. See more
