20.01.2022 Meet the stunning Forest Kingfisher, Todiramphus macleayii. The bird will excavate the nest chamber by hammering and pecking a hole in the nest until it reaches a suitable size, then the edges of the hole are filled in by termites. Kingfishers will often reuse the same mound in consecutive years, although it sometimes requires reexcavation as the termites will attempt to refill the cavity when the birds are absent. #WildStateQM #qldmuseum Jeff Wright
