25.01.2022 What a fantastic week we have had so far! So much improvement happening at the studios, its beautiful to see. We just love watching students striving for their goals and working diligently in class focusing on the important elements of training like technique, placement, extensions, footwork etc. Getting the base work correct!!!! 24.01.2022 The learning doesnt stop once you leave the studio. Any window, railing or bench can become a barre. Improvements can happen anywhere... just remember those class corrections. Practice practice practice!!!!!!!

21.01.2022 @jonathanmanitta working on correct and careful placement at the barre. Taking time in the studio just concentrating and feeling the technique. Its important for dancers to be able to work in their own quiet space, having a moment to absorb and apply their corrections outside off classes. This extra work gives the body and muscles time to understand the expectation of careful technique through repetition. Keep developing and training for consistency in technique dancers!!!

17.01.2022 Happy New Year to all our Beautiful QNB Family and Friends!!!!! As we farewell the craziness of 2020, we like to remind ourselves on how far we have all come, what we have achieved and the amazing things we have learnt. We have seen so many of our dancers find a new resilience this year, enhanced passion and stronger drive! Lessons that will stay with them through there whole careers. As insane as this year has been, we are so happy about all the positive things we can take away from it. Congratulations on another Amazing year even though it wasn’t what we expected. Happy New Year!!!!!!!!

17.01.2022 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY!!! With so many dancers at home taking classes, we are going to be posting technical tips to remind yourself of when training at home. TIP! Grand Rond de Jambe en lAir The Grand Rond de Jambe en lAir is a extremely hard step to master. It takes a lot of strength and correct placement to execute. A Rond de Jambe directly translates to circular movement of the leg and En lAir means in the Air, which equals to circular movement of the leg in the air. This ...is where a dancer carries the extended leg in the air from the front of the body to the back or vice versa. This semicircular movement can be performed both at the barre or in the centre and is a common exercise that dancers have trouble with. The most common and difficult section is from second to derrire (and in reverse). As you can see in the video, the leg dips down. The working leg must stay on a straight line. This comes from lifting up in the hips of the supporting leg and lengthening the working leg to the maximum. The extra length will give more space in the hips and create the beautiful straight line (with no dipping) seen in the video. Remember to keep the working hip pressed down as far as possible. Another focus point is the torso/body, when traveling from second to derrire (and in reverse) it is extremely important that the torso and body is square and not tilting towards the barre, this will create problems when transferring this step into the center. DANCERS REMEMBER! To gain the correct movement of a Grand Rond de Jambe en lAir, it is sometimes important to lower the leg and gain and strengthen the right technique. Stepping onto a stage, concurring nerves and taking every moment in is a feeling that cant be described. Each performance is a development no difference to a class, gaining skills and confidence, building upon roles, interpreting and sharing a story all while working the technique. 04.01.2022 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY!!! Practice make perfect so each Tuesday we will post technical tips to remind yourself of when working. TIP! Retir - (Reh-tee-ray) is a extremely important position in ballet and its used from barre work to allegro. Ensure your foot articulates through the demi-pointe to draw a line straight up the leg to a beautiful Retir position with the same in reverse. The foot should remain attached to the leg at all times, hitting the 3 positions- 5th, cou-de-pied... to Retir! Think about how many steps in ballet use the Retir from 5th- Comment them below!!!! Remember Dancers- Using correct foot articulation and floor resistance will give a nicer shape to the foot, improving the line when extending through to enlair positions (developp etc), in pirouettes and allegro work. Concentrating and gaining the correct basic technique for our ballet steps at the barre will advanced our center steps naturally. It takes time and repetition to gain muscle memory, so lets make sure we use this time correctly! #QNBKIDSATHOME #russianvaganova #trainingathome
