15.01.2022 How we do the draw To make it the best possible competition for the kids and so they get the most matches this is how we do it. Remember its not like other comps and you might have to compete against bigger kids who are of a higher rank. No one is forced to compete and go against another person if you dont want to, just forfeit the match.... The first 2 things that are put together is age and weight we try and keep the kids with 1 year of each other e.g. 5-6, 10-11 etc. The second consideration is rank, we try and get grey and yellow belts together but not always possible. The third is sex, this is not that important but we will try and made divisions of girls if we can. We all know if you go to a big comp you are lucky if you get 1-2 matches so thats why this comp is so important for the kids.

02.01.2022 Another great Qld Open Kids BJJ competition which ran super smooth, especially since Natalia did the draw and all the redraws on the day :). The level of the competition was as always really high we ran 17 divisions in our round robin format. A special mention to Garra Jiu Jitsu, Infinity Jiu Jitsu and Alliance Jiu Jitsu Brisbane who put in huge teams. This was Natalia first competition helping run all the behind the scenes activities and she did a fantastic job so well done.... The most important part of any comp is the volunteers and we cant thank them enough so a huge thanks to Sean Hawthorn, Liam Hills, Rebecca Mackey, Moti Ram, Robyn Jordan, Daniel Botelho, Richard Miles, Steve Rogers, Alexandra OGrady, Elliot Tonkes, Brandon Macnamara, Niall Hassell, Hillary Grimmer, John Martinkovic, Charisma Taylor, Dilshan Udaman, Justin Musgrave, Scott Gist, Tarik Cirik, Quinton Cugola on the BBQ, Angelique Cugola, Paige Cugola (photographer) hope I didn't miss anyone :) Also a special thanks to 2 members from Kyushin Ryu Jujitsu Tyler McInerney and Norm McInerney who don't do BJJ but still gave their time for the advancement of Jujitsu. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts we really do appreciate it! Photos https://flic.kr/s/aHsm72iJx1
