17.01.2022 2020 NAIDOC Theme Always Was Always Will Be Student Support Officer Chris shares his thoughts on a great project from the Townsville Campus. This art piece has been designed at our school with our students. The art centre represents the land as it was 1000’s of years ago untouched. This also has Kangaroo tracks going around the centre piece. The Big Yarning Circles is an acknowledgement to the Ancestors who had lived and protected the land before us. The smaller colourfu...l Yarning circles and people symbols represent the people who now live on this land and coming from so many different cultures whilst sitting together. The footprints represent that we are traveling from country to country and being respectful on the land we walk on. The land dot art represents the land with the Rainbow Serpent being identified as the creator of our country. The water dot art colours have specifically been used to represent the Torres Strait Islands and to acknowledge the people. We have also placed the Dolphin and Turtles in the water. It was such a wonderful experience with the students. We learnt a lot about each other and our passion for art. We learnt about each other’s cultures, family and personal experience’s during this 9 week project. This art piece also represents our schools 3 Pillars being Respect, Belief and Unity. This was all demonstrated during this project. The artists involved and to help create this beautiful piece for our school is Ashley, Zara, Amber and SSO Chris.

02.01.2022 On Wednesday our Bundamba and Mount Gravatt campuses took a trip down to Runaway Bay for a kayaking adventure. The weather was perfect and the students showed a lot of perseverance and determination to get though an extra-long paddle around Crab Island. Was great to see everyone’s positivity and team-work out on the water!
