13.01.2022 [Cheap VS Professional] We see it with every profession, the buyer looking to save cost and look for the cheapest job! Sometimes they are not necessarily looking for a cheap job and through lack of investigation end up with an inexperienced service resulting in poor workmanship. When it comes to business noting irritates me more then seeing this happen, and for this reason alone was the reason I decided around 10 years ago to build my own business to provide the service clie...nts deserve, that business has now been sold and this time round I decided to build another business in the same Industry with that same principle..only build bigger and better with plans to eventually dominate the market! I myself have been in the same situation trying to make do with as little outlay as possible and I learnt the hard way.... often the cheapest option is actually the most expensive option by the time you invested so much of your time and energy along with other tradesman trying to make it right, sometimes you have to start all over again..... 10.01.2022 [ Our service speaks for itself ] One thing I notice where many businesses lack and I’m talking about any business not pest control specific. They either can’t provide two crucial comments they sometimes only get one right . Quality service & Customer service/Communication.... As a business its crucial to stay ahead of your competition and I have found from my own experience that a quality job is hard to come by. You must provide quality in the field of your expertise...not average! QUALITY! Anyone can do what is required but you have a choice to provide top of the shelf products, equipment, service, what ever it is you do you have that choice and it can set you apart and customer retention will remain high with a quality and exceptional job. COMMUNICATION this is huge, how many times have you been to dinner or use a service and the customer service is a turn off. Many people can’t put in the effort to build a rapport with their clients , they simply take there money and on to the next one. Getting to genuinely know your client AND allowing them to know you can ensure your something to speak about once you are gone. If your dollar focused you can easily miss these two things. Obviously you have to be aware of cost to maintain a profitability business but Being customer focused will ensure not only are you providing the service you are paid for but a service to the customer of helpful knowledge and customer relation. It’s easy to spot when you look out for it, the number of times you are served a meal and they can’t smile or look you in the eyes, the number of times you have to chase someone up, tones of voice when discussing the service, minimal information provided on what you are buying etc. A simple one is going through a drive through takeaway I won’t mention names to get a happy meal compared to a cafe/diner for a take away and seeing the difference in customer service. 09.01.2022 [Termite damage - what you can’t see behind your walls] If it wasn’t for this client being flooded out and the builders having to come in and pull some walls off to repair this home owner would have had no idea that termites were behind the walls in the rooms she was sleeping in. Sometimes there is no visual damage on the interior of the building and this is the prime reason annual termite inspections are essential!... The damage in this home was very wide spread ....from one side of the built the other .....from the floor to the ceiling. The house was stripped back to the frames and slab and rebuilt ! Don’t hope for the best for the sake of saving a few $$ a year! It is not worth it when you end up like this ! Book your termite inspection and look after your asset! 07.01.2022 [Termites won’t eat this place it’s hardwood , it’s treated timber, it’s steel framed ] HARDWOOD Yes! Termites eat hardwood! It may take them a little longer to consume but when your talking about a colony of hundreds of thousands of termites they can make easy work out of hardwood timber. I have herd so many times the old saying ‘ They won’t eat this place it’s made out of hardwood’. Well it’s completely untrue and there are a species of termite intact thy only eat hardwood ...timber. STEEL FRAME - Yes they won’t eat a steel frame but having steel frames does not stop them entering your home and eating the timber elements such as skirting boards, kitchens , door ways etc easily racking up an expensive repair bill! TREATED TIMBER - I have also witnessed many times termite crawling up treated timber poles Into the home , the idea of treated timber is to be resistant to termites but I have seen them eat treated timber also... now I can’t say if there was a fault with the treatment in the timber but over my 10years in the pest control industry I have seen multiple occasions of termites eating the treated timber, especially if it is outside used in fencing , retaining walls as the moisture outside eventually turns to decay and toys away the treatment leaving it susceptible to termite attack. I have seen treated timber piers with splits in them only a few millimeters and the termite crawl up yeh splits in to the home. 04.01.2022 [ Rodents Infest Gold Coast Homes] Although rodents breed all year round it is these cooler months they tend to venture inside our home where it is a lot warmer. Especially when majority of homes have insulation inside the roofs and some also have insulation in the walls. Insulation provides the ideal nesting material and insulator to keep their young nice and warm!... As you can see in the photo Inside this garage the gnawing of the timber which allows just enough room for the rodent to squeeze in and out of the wall void of this property. Once they have made entry to the internal areas of your home we often see them nest in the back of fridges and dishwashers where they have quick access to the kitchen at night, and many times we have found them to gnaw holes in the under side of mattresses and lounges where they also nest in side the mattress and lounge. For a rat or mice it’s perfect , quick access to the pantry and kitchen , quick access to the pet food all while you sleep Controlling rodents comes in many forms with trapping although being effective , it’s not quite effective enough to remove and entire family or rodents, because when there is one there is alway more . More effective options can rely on the application of baits, tracking powders, gels and automatic trapping machines best suited for commercial properties. The solution will often vary depending on the Client and situation . 01.01.2022 [Termite Entry Point] A perfect example of the size of a gap a termite needs to gain access into a building. As you can see there is 2 concrete slabs meeting each other with that brown dirt looking object coming out going under the timber ....yep that’s what we call a termite lead /working coming out between that tiny gap the two slabs have made and under and in to the building.... Termite leads/workings are pretty much a mud like tunnel the termites created to keep themselves sheltered from the outside . Where ever they travel they make these tunnels. Think of them as roads ..but for termites! But these termite leads are also create under the ground through the soil from the main nest to a food source. That means the best could be 50m down the road in a tree and they build these tunnels from that nest, under the ground to your home ! Crazy right!
