24.01.2022 Come up to the Caboolture Historical Village for a great Australia Day. There will be a poultry display outside the Poultry & Bird Museum.

24.01.2022 The FCAQI Bird and Poultry Museum at Caboolture Historical Village is part way through a transformation facelift. The southern wall has now been repainted, with... a new 4.8 metre long mural installed; the front wall to the left of the entrance has been repainted; some new signage has been put up - thanks to a collaboration between members of the Museum Curatorial Team and the Caboolture Historical Village volunteers for undertaking different components of the works. Next stage is repainting of the interior floor, followed by several new planned displays. Here's some photos....I included a before shot of the southern wall so you can see the big difference that has been made. See more

19.01.2022 Scientists just discovered the oldest fossil of a modern bird, a so-called "turducken" they've just dubbed the "Wonderchicken." This chicken-duck hybrid was about the size of a quail and somehow survived the asteroid that obliterated the dinosaurs: https://bit.ly/2UeRkI4

18.01.2022 The Caboolture Historical Village is closing the gates until further notice is given regarding this awful Corona Virus pandemic.

17.01.2022 The FCAQI Museum has now joined Containers for Change to help fund raise and raise donations for the upkeep, preservation and replacement of displays at the museum. So next time you drop some cans or bottles at the collection centre, think of using our Scheme ID and send some of your refund to the museum as a donation.

12.01.2022 Come on over on Australia Day, Sunday 26 January 2020 and say hello.

11.01.2022 The newly painted floor at the FCAQI Bird & Poultry Museum at Caboolture Historical Village looks great - thanks to the Village volunteers for doing the paintin...g for us. When moving exhibits back into place in the Incubator Room, I moved things around a bit and am happy with the result. The Bird & Poultry Museum is one of approximately 70 buildings spread over the 12 acre Historical Village site. See more

08.01.2022 Did you know only 250 sets of John Gould’s The Birds of Australia were published? The Queensland Museum library has one complete set of the seven volumes and su...pplement, as well as an incomplete set that was one of the first acquisitions for library in 1876. Gould acknowledged in the preface that it was mammoth ten-year effort creating this work. There are 602 lithograph plates illustrating the bird species, of which half were unknown to natural historians at the time. Elizabeth, Gould’s wife, sketched most of these species, which formed the basis of the lithographs. In celebration of #WorldBookandCopyrightDay we are taking a closer look at this rare publication. #qldmuseum #qldcultureathome #museumathome Image of Gould's book taken by Madison Mayfield.
