25.01.2022 A little grey this morning. Bring your wet jackets, and perhaps a towel & a change of clothes. #funstartingshortly

25.01.2022 We are going back to our last location that we could meet in person this week with Bank Street and a new set of checkpoints. A great little suburban park with ...some trails to make it interesting. Both short and long courses this week with the objective to go through the checkpoints in order. Should be a good challenge, qnd without a time limit, suitable to everyone of any fitness level. Please note though, that it is not very pram friendly. Off road prams only suggested.

25.01.2022 Only 10 days until entries close in the Australian Champs in SA. 24.01.2022 It is with deep regret that QRA has to postpone the Yarrabilby Hop Rogaine this weekend. The main landowner has postponed permission to use the land due to the recent cases in Logan. https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-queensland-pa/12499794 The school is only 15 minutes drive from the race site, and the race director is indirectly associated with the school.

11.01.2022 Car Wrecks Challenge #3 - Mt Coot-tha This Wreck Trek will take you on a circuit from the Gold Mine picnic area near Channel 9 (Sir Samuel Griffith Drive). Your... challenge is to use the map and the MapRunF app to find the wrecks and ruins (including the old mine), in the fastest possible time. Run either the LONG course (visit all 8 circled wrecks, from 4 km depending on the route you choose) or the SHORT course (visit any 5 wrecks, minimum 2 km, more if you want to avoid steep climbs). FREE EVENT Plan your course - download/print the PDF map from https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au//Mt-Coot-tha-Wrecks-Ch - locate the start/finish (path junction at Gold Mine picnic area) - decide in which order you will visit the wrecks (marked X and circled) - you must finish where you started Run/walk the course - Run/walk any day, any time, respecting any COVID-19 restrictions and other users of the forest - Use the MapRunF app on your smartphone (see links on https://oq.orienteering.asn.au/events/9792). - Enter your name and details - Select the event in the folder: Queensland/Brisbane-Ipswich - Go to start - Make sure your phone beeps at the start location. - Your phone will beep within a few metres of each wreck. For fairness, make the effort to find and touch the wreck with your foot - Your course ends when your phone beeps at the finish (back where you started). - Your result will upload automatically if you are using data. Otherwise, choose manual upload later, when you are connected to wifi. Can you find all the rusty relics? TIP: Most of the wrecks are car wrecks, but #31 and #37 are rusted drums, while #38 is the entrance to the old Ghost Hole Gold Mine shaft

10.01.2022 Hi all, unfortunately our plans for a 3hr rogaine at Bunyaville have been derailed due to a planned burn through 1/3 of the course next week. So since all of the CPs are hung, if anyone wants to go out and try the course as an unofficial training activity, please email [email protected] and we'll send you the information. The CPs will be collected on Monday so you only have tomorrow (Saturday 30 May) and the day after (Sunday 31 May), daylight hours only, to give it a go.

10.01.2022 WHERE ARE THE CONTROLS? You shall find out tomorrow! Maps and Q&A envelope ready. Appreciate your support in adhering to instructions and information already provided. Please check your email for electronic form information/links to log your answers/end result. Cant wait to see you all!!!... Linda See more

02.01.2022 DIY MapRun Parks - Moore Park This week you can enjoy a run or stroll through the scenic Moore Park doing the next DIY MapRun Parks event. The orienteering will... be a 30 min Score Activity with "Start Anywhere" will be available (if you use MapRunF 4.8.8). The "normal" start/finish is near the car park off Russell Terrace. Specifically it is up the hill from the car park. Run anytime between Thursday am and Sunday pm (25 - 28 June). Run alone OR with immediate family OR with one other person. Check Eventor at https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/10250 to download and print yourself a map (unless you want to just run with your phone) and to get final details and instructions Remember to comply with all Covid-19 restrictions - social distancing, group sizes, travel distance from home etc and dont all come to the Start/Finish at the regular time on Sunday afternoon. Moore Park has an interesting history - Land was opened up west of Brisbane for sheep and cattle farming and Moggill Road was built in 1849. A sheep quarantine reserve followed in 1879 reaching past the Western Freeway of today. After its closure the quarantine reserve area was divided and its eastern part became Moore Park, named after the local councillor and president of the Divisional Board T. John Moore. Moore Park now covers just over 10 ha.
