24.01.2022 Well worth a read regarding our ability to make enact change.

21.01.2022 It appears you can achieve reform without quota management. It also appears that if provided the opportunity, industry can make a case for management that does not require restricted take - which is a waste of the resource. Industry in Queensland faces the loss of income, a downgrade in catch levels based on no sciences and a loss of 1/3 or well over 400 commercial fishing businesses. At a time when we are trying to recover from COVID-19 we still have a government that has...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Why does access to fresh local seafood matter? Why is the so-called fisheries reform a dud?

20.01.2022 Today’s podcast is the second part of a discussion with Greg Radley, a Gulf of Carpentaria and east coast commercial fisher shares his views on the Queensland Spanish Mackerel fishery. There is no security or stability in quota management, as Greg noted, ‘quota has become a financial burden to fishermen’. You can access the podcast here: * QSIA Podcasts: https://qsia.podbean.com/e/quota/ * QSIA News: https://qsia.com.au///03/issues-with-the-quota-management/... 07.01.2022 Reform Update #11 Thanks to the Gympie Today for allowing the Association to reprint the attached advertisement. Privatisation - a critical issue not formally addressed by the State Government during its so-called reform process.

06.01.2022 Reform Update #13 More activity amongst Queensland commercial fishers. The State Government is making your choice clear - more seafood imports or support local commercial fishers to keep us providing fresh local seafood.

05.01.2022 Tim Fellows generational commercial fisherman and family fish shop proprietor at Bowen. The Fellows have fed fresh fish to the Bowen community since 1954. Tim’s thoughts provide some damning insights into the impacts of a reform process that has pushed industry to the wall. "I am gutted, my son’s future has just started in the industry. They (Qld DAF) have torn us apart from limb to limb, from the banning of ring netting of Spotted Mackerel, Jew Fish now the Spanish Mackerel. No fish for the fish shop that has feed the Bowen community since 1954. How can the people behind this utter rot get away with this? They have got to be dealt with I can hear the thunder i am just waiting for the storm"

04.01.2022 Reform Update #08 Thanks to the Green Shirts Movement Qld for helping to spread the message that fishers and farmers matter.

02.01.2022 Our commercial fisheries policies need to change and what will another 4 years of undermining commercial fisheries mean - less local seafood and more imports. A big thanks to the GSM Qld for their help in spreading a simple message - laborgreenslast. #www.qsia.com.au #laborgreenslast

01.01.2022 What is the ‘proper’ role for an industry body? Tomorrow the election process reaches its conclusion. Many industry bodies will have identified their wish lists amongst the major and minor parties seeking either a change to policy or maintaining the status quo. This Association has done, what some have argued is broken an unspoken rule we have targeted political messaging, targeted the State Government and continued to seek a better deal than the garbage masquerading as fi...Continue reading
