13.01.2022 Move over Apple Crumble, this delicious Strawberry Crumble recipe by Baker by Nature will keep you toasty warm this winter! Recipe: For the Strawberry Filling: 1kg fresh Queensland strawberries, chopped ... 3 tbsp bourbon (optional) 1 tsp orange zest 1 tsp vanilla extract 3 tbsp white sugar 3 tbsp cornflour For the Crisp Topping: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into cubes, at room temperature 3/4 cup oats 1/4 cup pecans, finely chopped 1/4 cup white sugar 1/2 cup soft brown sugar, firmly packed 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 cup plain flour ice cream, for serving, optional Method: For the Strawberry Filling: 1. Preheat oven to 180C. 2. In a large bowl combine the Queensland strawberries, bourbon (if using), orange zest, vanilla, and sugar. Toss well, making sure the berries are well coated. 3, Add in the cornflour and toss well to combine. 4. Pour strawberry mixture into the bottom of a baking dish and set aside. For the Crisp Topping: 1. Cut butter into cubes and set aside. 2. In a large bowl, combine the oats, pecans, both sugars, cinnamon, and flour. Add in the cubed butter and, using two forks or a pastry blender, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. 3. Sprinkle topping evenly over Queensland strawberries. 4. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the strawberries have begun to burst and release their juices and the topping is golden brown. 5. Serve warm from the oven, with ice cream or greek yoghurt, if desired.
