12.01.2022 It was great to see a full row of targets down range and full squads of rifle shooters on the line. Our first competition in 9 years was a raging success. We do it all again in a few weeks with a pistol championship.

08.01.2022 Sport across the generations. One of the wonderful features of target rifle shooting is how the sport is equal for all ages and ability. Here we have fantastic photos of Jim and grandson Casey, and Meredith and granddaughter Betty, competing alongside each other in the 10m Supported Air Rifle event at the 2021 Queensland Cup. Both Meredith and Jim have represented Australia over the years in various rifle disciplines and now they get the thrill of passing on the fun to their grandchildren. The black target is 33mm dia and the bullseye is a 1/2 millimetre dot.

05.01.2022 Had a great day today at the Marybourgh riffle championships. It was a pleasure to finally shoot at the Marybourgh range today for its first competition since... the range reopened. I would like to thank all of the members from the Marybourgh club for a sterling effort in getting the range reopened Roy, Allen, Rod, just to mention a few names but the club put in a massive effort to secure the future of shooting at this range. With the weather smiling on there first shoot in over eight years the range looked fantastic. With a full detail of shooters the silhouette competition had a great turnout with the Gympie club fielding over a dozen shooters we were in for a great days shooting. Conditions were near perfect with little wind and a small amount of heat haze rising out at the longer distance. It was great to bump into a few familiar faces again and and get back to the sport we all love. So here’s how the club went today. A Grade 1st Mark Brown 80 Gympie 2nd Jeff Hawker 80 Bingera/Skolan 3rd Matt Murillo 78 Gympie B Grade 1st Emma Long 79 Gympie jnr 2nd Ian Long 77 Gympie 3rd Jack Long. 75 Gympie jnr C Grade 1st Allan Nottage 72 Gympie 2nd Dwight Bradford 61 Marybourgh D Grade 1st Demott Chapman 60 Bundaberg 2nd Conor Nottage 52 jnr Gympie 3rd Peter Green 26 jnr Marybourgh Medalists Mark Brown Gold Jeff Hawker Silver Emma Long Bronze It was tight at the top with two perfect scores only split by count back with both shooters scoring 27 centres and Mark just closing out a win with two centres at the rams and Jeff with one. All in all a great turnout by the Gympie shooters a great show by our juniors what more can I say but thank you all for your efforts in showcasing the gold that is the Gympie shooters.

03.01.2022 THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCKS - At the Queensland Cup today we caught up with Australian pistol shooting legend, Dan Repacholi, at the Brisbane International Shooting Centre, whilst doing some training. We get some foundational tips of wisdom on how to prepare for a quality training session.

02.01.2022 The three who travelled up from South Australia took out the placings in the 3P event on Friday. Gold Dane Sampson, Silver Jack Rossiter, Bronze Tori Rossiter (...lunch was more inviting than a medal) while it was an all girl thing in the Junior Air Rifle event. Gold Tori Rossiter (we found her) Silver Savanna Stey and Bronze Emily Cane. And then there was the innovative Qld President, Jamie Webb, who brought along all sorts of equipment to show off fun events with the aim of getting interest from more people to join our sport. Here he is demonstrating 3P Air with Catherine Rashford and Alyce Gallon. See more
