21.01.2022 An incident involving a young man contacting power lines this week highlights the dangers of trying to exit a vehicle after a collision with electricity assets.... The Beaudesert Times reports he was a passenger in a 4WD which hit a power pole, bringing down lines on the vehicle. He reportedly suffered an electric shock and burns while trying to get out of the vehicle, and we’re incredibly thankful that this didn’t end in tragedy. If you’re in an accident involving electricity assets, only consider trying to exit the vehicle as an absolute last resort unless the vehicle is on fire (which, contrary to what Hollywood shows, is very rare), stay put, call 000, and wait for Energex and emergency services to make the scene safe and get you out. If you come across an accident like this, be alert for downed lines, stay clear and call 000. Here’s a helpful guide we developed with our mates at Ergon Energy on what to do, and when: https://bddy.me/2HP7Ew8 https://bddy.me/2HP7G7e See more
