24.01.2022 Over the weekend the QRAT 'Trackers' took delivery of a brand new Command Centre trailer. The SEQ team sponsored by TWPA and inclusive of a number of former AD...F personnel spent the weekend getting familiar with the operating systems of the trailer which is equipped with an extensive radio communications suite. Rescue Trackers within QRAT employ visual tracking, and extensive bushcraft skills to support Search and Rescue efforts in Queensland. Senior Sergeant Jim Whitehead, is the most prominent Subject Matter Expects in Australia and visited the Trackers on Saturday. Queensland Remote Area Tracking (QRAT) provides a specialist niche SAR capability in Austalia and is a fully registered charity. If you wish to support QRAT please visit the QRAT website and make a donation. www.qrat.org.au

23.01.2022 Three members of QRAT Seaforth, Shonèe, and Nathan, conducted a 4.5km night NAVEX last night. The route had 7 waypoints with 4 of the legs being over over a ki...lometre long. Road, steep rocky vine scrub gullies, ridge running, spurs, saddles, and very steep sections kept things interesting. The terrain was unseen, and the sickle moon allowed for unlit movement at times. For safety and speed sakes, redlight was used in some difficult areas, and where scrub cattle were near in close country. Shonèe and Seaforth are very green to night nav but landed us on the mark everytime. Pacing in difficult country needs some practice, with Seaforth outperforming the seasoned bloke. A great effort highlighting advanced land nav skills. See more

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, as you might already know, QRAT is a registered charity, volunteer organisation with teams constantly available for activation's as required to relieve the suffering, misfortune and helplessness of those who are lost or the victims of natural disaster. We currently have two active groups, a South East Queensland Group based at the Sunshine Coast, and a Central Queensland Group based in Mackay. We are a small but extremely potent charitable emergency service organ...isation. We are growing every day and have just over 40 members however, we are looking for everyone's support to help us purchase the equipment that we need to keep our trackers out there. We have had 2 teams on standby for the fires in New South Wales and Victoria however we have been unable to come up with the money to deploy over that distance so every donation is greatly appreciated! Any donation over $2 is also a tax deduction, QRAT is made up largely of defense force veterans which allows veterans to use their unique skills in a dutiful way while linking them with embedded veteran support to aid them in transitioning into daily life. To make a donation, you can go to our website at www.qrat.org.au and click on the donations page. Please help us make a difference. See more

07.01.2022 Have you heard of Queensland remote area tracking (QRAT)? This outstanding volunteer group searches for lost or missing people in remote areas of the Sunshine ...Coast & Mackay hinterlands. They also establish vital communications during extreme weather emergencies. We were stoked to recently donate a range of analogue radio equipment to assist with QRAT’s ongoing field work. As a not-for-profit, QRAT relies on community support to fund the specialist equipment and resources needed to complete its life-changing missions. With our recent transition to digital, the analogue equipment still in good working order was surplus to our needs. Check out the QRAT team and their new radios in action!

07.01.2022 Search and Rescue Trackers getting put through tracker continuation training on the weekend. Radio systems, antenna array set ups, field repairs, navigation sy...stems, UAV’s, field pack load requirements, and most essentially instruction in The Trackers Code. Wo we are, what we do, how we do it and why we do it. A committed focus on serving others, assisting in the Search and Rescue effort of any search to help locate a lost person or provide closure to a grieving family. These are the Tracker’s tasks and they are generally undertaken without significant notice. A Tracker requires no thanks or recognition, instead we prefer to arrive quietly, work quietly and leave quietly. Tracking is a humbling skill set, there is no place for ego or big personalities. Small dedicated and focused teamwork is the Tracker’s strength. Want to know more? Visit: Www.qrat.org.au
