24.01.2022 QIMR Berghofer scientists have discovered two new breast cancer gene signatures that can give women a more accurate prediction about their survival chances. This is not just another test. It outperforms current tests and will apply to all breast cancers, QIMR Berghofer's Dr Fares Al-Ejeh said. Ultimately, it can mean overhauling treatment plans." http://www.heraldsun.com.au///story-fni0xqrb-1226891484485

23.01.2022 Our colleagues at the Queensland University of Technology have recently completed a study of twin children's experiences of starting school, and we are pleased to present the first in a series of articles detailing this research (we will post a new part each week). This has surely been an issue at some point or another for all multiple birth parents - feel free to share your own experiences in the comments!

20.01.2022 Eating disorders are more universal than we think. Anorexia and other eating disorders are not the realm of adolescent girls; studies show it affects both men and women, up to their 40s. QIMR Berghofer researchers are conducting a study to find the genetic influences behind eating disorders, called ANGI, the Anorexia Nervosa Genetics Initiative. 12.01.2022 Happy Friday! New research has come out of our fantastic twin research. You may help us to catch criminals just from their DNA, CSI style: One day it may be possible to draw a phantom portrait of a person solely from the DNA theyve left behind, and this would be a great boon for forensic investigations. We already can predict certain eye and hair colours from DNA with quite high accuracy, QIMR's Professor Nick Martin said.... http://www.qimr.edu.au//Archi/2012/Genetics_of_face_shape/

01.01.2022 Teenage years important for cancer risk QIMR Berghofer's special guest, Professor Graham Colditz is a world cancer prevention authority based in Washington. He is in Brisbane for a month as a visiting Bancroft Fellow. He said studies suggested exercise during teenage and early adult years significantly reduced a woman's risk of developing breast cancer, and diets high in fibre and soy may also be protective....
