24.01.2022 In a normal year, 1 in 5 Australian adults experience some form of mental illness in. 2020 is no normal year. Mental ill-health costs Australian workplaces $4.7 billion in absenteeism, $1.6 billion in presenteeism (lack of concentration in the workplace) and $146 million in compensation claims per year. Yet the cost to families and communities in watching loved ones struggling and feeling unable to help is beyond money. It is pure heartache. Only 22% individuals with signs of... common mental illness receive treatment for their mental health problems. The definition of a mental health illness includes that the change in behaviour, feelings or thoughts are ongoing for more than a period of 2 weeks. This includes the limited capacity to function at work and the impact on relationships - including with co-workers and family members.
