25.01.2022 Calm your body and mind with Grounding 5 senses . Grounding exercises are used to help bring us back into the present moment and to regain control of your mind when you are distracted by unhelpful or distressing thoughts, memories or impulses or if you are experiencing difficult or strong emotions . This technique helps brings us back to the present by relying on our five senses sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste... . Look at your surroundings and identify and describe in your mind 5 things you can see at the moment Stop and notice 4 things you can hear in your surroundings it could be sounds around your home/office/nature Notice 3 things you can feel on your skin or you are touching it can be anything form your feet in your shoes to a ring on your finger Notice 2 things you can smell around you in this moment Identify and describe to yourself something you can taste it could be the last meal you ate, the last coffee you drank . . . . . #grounding #mentalhealth #psychology #brisbanepsychologist #mindfulness

22.01.2022 After further consideration over the past few days I have decided to move from face-to-face to telehealth sessions. These sessions will be conducted via telephone or video on a secure online platform called Zoom. This move will minimise the risk for clients, myself, our families and the community given the current health situation I use Zoom quite often and people find it very similar to being in person.. with the bonus being you can do therapy in the comfort of your own ho...me (and in your pj's if you wish!). I will be in contact with all my clients over the coming days to discuss your appointment and the details of billing, however if you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me via phone or email. I recognise this can be a very stressful time and I see the opportunity to be available via telehealth as a very positive one.

10.01.2022 Some fantastic news - the government has just announced 20 sessions per year of psychology treatment will be covered by Medicare rebates under Mental Health Care Plans, regardless of location. This is great news, given that so many Australians require therapy well beyond 10 sessions. More information on when this will come into effect will be released later this week.

09.01.2022 Many of us have been very busy up until a few weeks ago - being in "go" mode, doing, thinking, getting stuff done, and ticking off to-do lists. . However, now life has slowed due to the Covid-19 pandemic ... , , , ... we were not the ones to press the ("iso) pause button. . So why is it difficult to now do the thing...s that we may have intuitively known we should have allowed time for? . Our bodies are simply repeating patterns that it has been programmed to do through repetition - "go" . #flow #selfcare #mentalhealth #stuckingo #psychology #brisbanepsychologist See more

08.01.2022 . Earthing yourself, also called grounding, is a therapeutic technique that involves doing activities that 'ground' or electrically reconnect you to the earth. . It was a technique I actually learned about from my mother in-law, an Australian Aboriginal woman who often talks about the importance of connecting to the earth and its energy as a form of healing ... . Scientifically, research on earthing began emerging over the last 15 years. It is still in its infancy but the results are promising. The most recent scientific research has explored grounding for inflammation, cardiovascular disease, muscle damage, chronic pain, and mood. . Our connection to nature, the planet and the universe is important, however with rapid advances in technology and our modern fast-paced lifestyles, many of us have become separated from our basic bond with mother Earth . So how could you try to earth (ground) yourself? Walking/standing barefoot on the grass, sand, soil or even mud - sink all of your body's weight and tension into your feet, allowing it to be absorbed into the ground. Imagine roots growing out the bottom of your feet, extending deep into the ground beneath you Walk barefoot and stay present with your environment Lay on the ground - increase your skin-to-earth contact by lying on the ground. You can do it on the grass or on the sand at the beach See more

06.01.2022 Given the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Federal Government has announced that Medicare will offer rebates on telehealth consultations for psychology sessions for vulnerable/isolated patients. Vulnerable/isolated patients are those where at least one of the following apply: (a) the person has been diagnosed with COVID-19 virus but who is not a patient of a hospital; or (b) the person has been required to isolate themselves in quarantine in accordance with home isolat...ion guidance issued by Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC); or (c) the person is considered more susceptible to the COVID-19 virus being a person who is: (i) at least 70 years old; or (ii) at least 50 years old and is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or (iii) is pregnant; or (iv) is a parent of a child under 12 months; or (v) is already under treatment for chronic health conditions or is immune compromised; or (d) the person meets the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection. This also extends to myself so if I am required to self-isolate due to suspected or confirmed COVID-19 I will be able to continue to provide mental health services to my clients during the period of isolation. If you would like to learn more about these options or to book your appointment using telehealth services (via secure Zoom meetings) please contact 0499 545 216 to determine if you are eligible and to talk through the process.

03.01.2022 If you want a fake relationship, avoid conflict. If you want a real relationship, learn to fight wise. By which I just mean learn how to honor BOTH your own... experience AND your partner’s ... at the same time. Learn to fully feel what you are feeling while simultaneously holding space for your beloved other to fully feel what they are feeling, too. Make space for how they are seeing/describing things even as you continue to hold space for your own version of truth. I know that ain’t easy ... which is why we run from conflict (even when we stay and fight). We far too often expect to be seen and heard before we are willing to see and hear. Yet we cannot receive a love we are not willing to offer. The partner you’re looking for is not the one you’ll never fight with. It’s the one who’s willing to stay in the fire with you when things suddenly turn shitty, who’s willing to take radical ownership of their part in starting that shit-fire, and who can (at least before long) say, I’m sorry for my part in this. I love you. Let’s figure this out together. Wouldn’t just that much be amazing? w/ @silvykhoucasian in #ireland #love #relationship #coaching #healthylove #lovequotes #relationships #relationshipgoals #relationshipquotes #romantic #authentic #coaching #dating #loveyourself #wisdom #selflove #couples #marriage #healthylife #inspired #BRYANREEVESinsight #losangeles #ireland #loves_ireland See more
