16.01.2022 The ABC have been broadcasting comments on the latest Commonwealth Ombudsman's report about the difficulties people are having - not only with the initial NDIS planning stage - but with accessing the prolonged review process. We are also finding access and information about the Special Disability Accommodation allowance for eligible people to be difficult, complicated and seems to be deliberately complex. This is the ABC presentation emphasising the problems: NDIS reviews leave people with disabilities waiting up to nine months ... http://www.abc.net.au//ndis-reviews-causing-delays/9764536 3 hours ago ... 10.01.2022 This could be a chance to learn more - essential information about housing potential in our region.

09.01.2022 "If ever there was a story I’d want Australians to watch, it’s this one" - Liz Hayes. 7.00 TONIGHT on #60Mins | Exposing the broken system that's left elderly Australians in crisis. Who will care for their disabled children when they die?

08.01.2022 Some of our members are interviewed on Channel Nine's 60 minutes and it goes to air at 7pm tonight! They spent a lot of time filming us but I am advised the show has been trimmed due to other issues - it is about the situation of ageing carers struggling to cope with caring into advanced age and finding it hard to find appropriate accommodation where their kids will be well looked after. Sound familiar? They did manage to interview the Federal minister responsible for Social Services. Don't miss it! I am assured a complete version will be on the 60 minutes Facebook page later this evening and we will get a copy - I hope to put it up here ASAP!

07.01.2022 Information about changes we all need to know!

04.01.2022 In January 2015 we posted this message - 'Happy New Year to all of our members, our supporters and their friends! We have lots of stories to tell. Have you told yours?' ...and it still applies! Have you? We would love to hear from you.

04.01.2022 This could be an important opportunities to tell your story.

02.01.2022 Unfortunately our plans to collaborate with the congregation of the church at Marong have stalled. We are pursuing a few other options but our primary purpose is to determine the eligibility of our high-needs kids for the Special Disability Accommodation suppliment. This is provided by the NDIS to a small percentage of people living with a disability who need housing that will be able to accommodate them appropriately. This could open up the potential for certainty, for a future where a home and appropriate care can be assured.
