20.01.2022 Our aged care residents at the Cloncurry Hospital were very excited to have a special delivery from Anthony McMillan, President Quamby All Sports Associ...ation. Quamby All Sports have kindly donated lovely PJs, hankys, hand towels, hats & singlets as a very thoughtful gift This delivery comes as part of a whopping $10,000.00 donation from the Quamby All Sports Association for residents to spend on themselves for social or recreational activities It has put a smile on residents faces and given them something to look forward to as they have been in lockdown now for several weeks with limited visitors What a fabulous idea; thank you to the Quamby All Sports Association!

11.01.2022 If you were out at the Quamby Rodeo on the weekend you might have seen, or been part of, the long line of rodeo fans waiting to submit to a voluntary breath te...st being conducted by the Cloncurry Police. This is a road safety initiative we call Blow Before You Go, and allows people considering driving away from an event such as this, to do a breath test and get an indication as to their blood alcohol concentration. We think it saves both lives and licences, and its popularity is increasing each year at this rodeo. This year Cloncurry Police stood inside the front gate for about 3 and half hours allowing people to participate. In addition to saving lives and licenses, it also allows us the opportunity to raise a few dollars for the Royal Flying Doctors Service, and we ask participants to throw us a gold coin in exchange for the breath test. This year we were able to raise $532 from breath testing 351 people. Of interest is that 31 of these people registered blood alcohol concentrations in excess of .05%, which would have seen a loss of licence if they drove and were intercepted. Of further interest, is that one young lady, who didnt participate in the Blow Before You Go and made the decision to drive, was intercepted on the highway, and now has a Court appearance for drink driving. We also take the opportunity to raise a few dollars at our local Race Meets, and once a year at the Police Station, we run an RFDS money board, inspired by one of our own members who has needed the services of the RFDS on more than one occasion. We have been doing this for a few years now, and this year our tally is consistent with previous years, and we have been able to donate $1158.50 straight to the RFDS. We thank you for supporting us in supporting an extremely valuable service to the Bush. We wish we had some photos of the line up at Quamby, but instead its just our donation receipt!!!
