25.01.2022 Anyone looking for a water truck, or know of a company who might be?

22.01.2022 For something a little different, this is a job I completed recently for an engineering company. It's a control panel that's heading out onto an oil rig and is basically a massive PLC marshalling panel with both normal and intrinsically safe digital and analogue inputs and outputs, safety barriers, trip amps, modbus RTU's and UPS. Photos don't do it justice, but it's around 2.4m high and 0.8m wide.

20.01.2022 Customer feedback for down light repairs and installation of TV points... "Service has been great. Prompt and friendly. Thanks Les." (Wattle Grove)

19.01.2022 WOW! What a down pour last night! And a timely reminder to check your roof tiles for cracks and gutters for debris because "Winter is coming" ;). I must get up and check mine too!! I met another lovely customer this morning with no power (RCD had tripped). After some investigations the cause was found to be blocked gutters. This caused the gutters to overflow during the down pour last night sending water into the eaves and into the air conditioner isolation switch. Fo...rtunately the RCD tripped and wouldn't reset, alerting the home owner to the issue. Once water is in the eaves it can enter cavity walls and can trickle down cables into the back of power points and light switches. Fortunately in this case, the water only reached the external air conditioner isolation switch. This just highlights why RCD protection is so important. https://au.news.yahoo.com//downpour-delivers-wettest-pert/

18.01.2022 Feedback recently received from another happy customer... "Les has been very helpful in installing additional power point and a new light fitting. He is friendly, professional and reasonable with his pricing as well. I recommend Les for any household electrical work." V. Aleyas (Wattle Grove)

17.01.2022 Some beautiful barn/ vintage style lights These were sourced and supplied by the customer to complement their stunning home. It was a pleasure installing 6 of these lights locally, in addition to robotic security sensor lighting.

16.01.2022 Photos taken from a job today. These are downlight transformers that were covered by roof insulation (batts in this case). The black singed wires were once in white cables. When covered by roofing insulation, the heat generated from the downlights, their transformers and the typical heat within the roof space, has lead to the melting of the transformers themselves, the cables and the individual wires within the cables. This is a major fire hazard. There were burn marks ...where the black wires were against the ceiling gyprock. It is unknown whether the downlights or the insulation were installed first, however, this shows why downlights should never be covered by/ installed beneath roofing insulation. Fortunately this fault caused the homes RCD to trip alerting the homeowner that there was an issue. A win for RCDs, however, a lucky escape from a house fire. And another happy Quantum customer!

13.01.2022 Quantum and family send our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the Perth electrician that was killed on the job this week. It is a high risk job as you never know what you'll encounter in a customer's roof space. Please ensure that you only use a registered electrical contractor in your home. http://www.perthnow.com.au//5a9dfe124cfe692d75cfe1d90006b5

12.01.2022 Just recently I decided to pursue a new direction for Quantum Electrical and it has almost immediately paid off. This week, and potentially the entire month of March I'll be at a gas production facility in Dongara carrying out inspections of electrical equipment in hazardous areas (EEHA), and then potentially swinging over to help with the commissioning phase of bringing a new gas well online. I always like a challenge, and if the last 2 days are anything to go by, I'm going to be in for it

12.01.2022 Renovation in Highgate is coming along nicely. Forgive the mess as works are still happening.

11.01.2022 Quantum Electrical & Technical Solutions only uses Australian manufactured Olex Cables supplied by local electrical wholesalers. However, if you have bought and used cable from Master's, or think there may be some dodgy wires or wiring in your roof, then call me to discuss and I can come out to inspect and rectify if required. It was only last week that I had to remove cut up extension cord, that had been used in lieu of legal cabling to power up down lights. The home owner had purchased the house with this existing illegal electrical wiring, as it was not picked up in the pre-purchase building inspection report.

10.01.2022 Here's another example of customer supplied light fittings purchased from our new local Aldi. If you are considering purchasing light fittings yourself and are unsure of quality or suitability, don't hesitate to contact Quantum as we're happy to come out and talk you through it.

10.01.2022 Recent 200m long sub-mains installation in rural Wattle Grove. Very much enjoyed working amongst all the trees and birds. This is paradise (aka the lotto dream )!

10.01.2022 Quantum are more than happy to work with customers who have sourced their own light fittings and fans. This local customer had a bedroom fan, 4 alfresco down lights, an alfresco fan, and outside lights installed (fans and wall lights customer supplied). Just loving that bedroom fan!

09.01.2022 There's not really a great deal that QETS can't do. Todays insulation resistance testing using a 10,000V Megger at UGL's premise in Belmont.

09.01.2022 Quantum recommends that you regularly check your household power points, specifically those under high load (such as those powering spas) for plugs which may have wiggled loose over time. This is a photo I took today of a burnt-out weatherproof GPO utilised to power an outdoor spa. Testing of the spa revealed a current draw of 15 Amps for which both plug and socket are rated for. Therefore it is unlikely that the spa itself caused this to occur. The most likely cause is that over time the plug has come loose leading to arcing, over-heating and the gradual breakdown of insulation within the socket outlet. A quick check today may prevent a fire hazard down the track. Wishing you all a safe and happy long weekend!

09.01.2022 Customer feedback for various electrical installations about the home (down light, exhaust fan and external patio lights)..."Overall, very happy customer." K. Brown (Wattle Grove)

08.01.2022 Quantum would like to give back to the local community that supports us. We are seeking confidential nominations of a local (Wattle Grove and surrounds) homeowner that may require some electrical work and are unable to pay for these services. You may know of (for example, and by no means limited to) an elderly couple, disabled person or a single parent family doing it tough in the local area that would benefit from this. For privacy reasons, we request that all nominations a...re sent via Facebook private message or email only ([email protected]). They must also be the homeowner and consent to the services. For legal reasons we unfortunately cannot accept nominations for tenants. To nominate: 1. Like our business page Quantum Electrical & Technical Solutions. 2. Like and share this post so that we can reach the wider community. 3. Send a PM or email detailing: the nominated homeowner, their suburb, a contact number (if available), their circumstances and electrical work required (photos would be helpful). 4. Nominations close 5pm Friday, 15th July 2016. The homeowners that Quantum feels are most in need will be contacted the following week to arrange a time to view the works. Quantum will select one homeowner (or more at our discretion) to deliver the electrical services to, at no cost to the homeowner. We confirm that all of the above nomination details will be kept in the strictest confidence in line with our privacy policy. At no time will the persons name or circumstances be published, unless they specifically request we do so. Only photographs of the electrical work will be taken to evidence that Quantum has delivered on their promise to assist someone local and in need. Thank you for supporting our small, Wattle Grove, family run electrical business! Wishing you all a great weekend!

05.01.2022 Another happy local Wattle Grove Quantum customer (May 2016). This job involved electrical installations throughout the entire home, including; external feature wall lights, LED down lights throughout interior and exterior (under eaves), pendant lighting to dining room, LED oysters to kitchen, laundry, minor bedrooms and alfresco, dimmer switches to majority of new lighting, exterior sensor/ security flood lighting, and exterior wall bulk head and standalone flood lights. A few photos below. It was a pleasure doing this job and meeting some more lovely Wattle Grove neighbours!

05.01.2022 **Graphic Warning** "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"... In this case I was installing a new light switch and found this poor little tacker who had crawled down the wall cavity and into the switch box and couldn't get back out. This is the first time I have come across this in 18 years.

04.01.2022 A lot has been going on in the Quantum household the last couple of months. Hence the reason why this page has been pretty quiet. With the arrival of our son in early December, followed shortly thereafter was Christmas and New Year holiday/ break. I've also been looking in to formalising the experience I've gained over the years, and also expanding on my knowledge within the electrical industry. ... So today I made the decision and enrolled myself in to do my Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology - Electrical, and will be studying in a part time capacity. Although for the first semester it'll almost be full time as I'll be devoting around 3 to 4 days a week to my studies, to get myself back up to speed with it all. I'll still be available to carry out electrical work from time to time, but if I don't get back to you straight away, then I may just be a little bit preoccupied with my studies... or changing a nappy Cheers Les

04.01.2022 New well head has been commissioned and gas is flowing into the plant. Only had 4 days off in all of March, but the project was a major success. Quantum's services and expertise were drawn upon in all facets of construction and commissioning, including third party inspections of electrical equipment in hazardous areas to ensure compliance, calibration of various pressure, temperature and level transmitters and positional valves, and fault investigation and rectification of... existing plant equipment. Home now and for the weekend. Hopefully I'll have 5 or 6 days off before the next job.

03.01.2022 I thought this was pretty appropriate to share since Quantum is expecting a little Sparky in December 2018 (and I'm renowned for my terrible Dad jokes already )

02.01.2022 One of my personal favourite electrical products for the home is Clipsal's premium range Saturn Series. They are just one option to jazz up your switches and sockets. Here's some photos from my home in "ocean mist", a glass fascia with backlit blue LED to help you locate them in the dark. Other colours available in the range include white and coffee. There are many combinations available comprising; single, double and four gang sockets, telephone, data and TV sockets, blank plates and a range of options for light and dimmer switches. Hope you all have a fantastic long weekend!

02.01.2022 It's amazing what you find sometimes being an electrician. I took the back cover off an upright stove today to look for a fault, only to find a mouse had decided that he needed a little extra spark in his life. I think he got a little more than he bargained for though. Poor little guy was well and truly over done. Didn't think about it at the time, but I should've got a photo and posted it, as it would've been a classic. His little hand was still hanging on whilst the rest of his body was slumped down.

01.01.2022 Quantum have been a little light on the facebook posts the past few months as we've been flat out. Here's something a little different. In December we completed an industrial project to build and install remote control panels for pallet shrink wrap machines and the wiring in of safety magnetic switches to the access gate.

01.01.2022 Off to a busy start and very pleased to read our positive customer feedback... "Leslie is very personable in his manner and helpful with advice on options on how to tackle the job in hand. He also advised me of things that needed doing that didn't meet legal standards. He was on time and worked hard while he was there despite it being 40 odd degrees outside, so it was much hotter in the roof! On top of doing a high standard of work he cleaned up after himself so there was no mess left to cleanup like other tradies/ electricians that I have used in the past. I certainly have no complaints and would highly recommend him." S. Vitlich (Armadale)
