Historically referred to as Perry's Hill, t...he limestone quarry at City Beach was the source of stone for many of Perth's federation buildings from 1834 to 1906. Used alternatively as an abattoir, a rifle range and Perth's premier race venue prior to the construction of Ascot, the site lay abandoned for more than 60 years until Diana and Keith Waldron re-imagined it as a live entertainment venue to host Perth's ballets.
