21.01.2022 PERTH HOMELESSNESS Our governments now realising the benefits of investing in social housing, outside of simply easing the long waiting lists and providing shelter to individuals and families - investment in social housing provides stimulus to our economy. It's never too late to support and help those in need.... #homelessness #WAeconomy #WABusinessNews #perthnow #perthcity#publichousing #homeless #perth #perthlife City of Perth

20.01.2022 AUSSIE McMANSIONS BEING SUPERSIZED BY COVID-19 Australians are increasingly building larger homes, now TRUMPING those in the US, placing Australia as having the largest homes in the world, with the average size of a free-standing new home being built in 2019/20 at 235.8 sqm, almost 3% higher than the previous year - the pandemic seemingly increasing our appetite for building even bigger homes. Our philosophy is ‘build’ a quality home to your lifestyle and practicalities of sp...ace, not forgetting sustainability. Not too dissimilar to owning an American imported 420 hp V8 Cadillac Escalade Platinum as a baby-boomer with no children left at the nest, you need to question, why? and typically if it’s because you can and you’re only utilising half the house, ask yourself, is this a good enough reason and what’s the implications on our next gen? Yes, more Aussies are embracing WFH (work from home) trends and some are opting away from the city for larger homes in suburban or regional areas for ‘lifestyle’ changes and in our book, that’s ok, but not the prior, but that’s our thoughtswhat’s yours? Again, if you're thinking of entering the housing market and are looking for some practical impartial valued advisory to meet your lifestyle needs, please don’t hesitate to get in contact. #perth #australianproperty #perthproperty #perth #quayco #wa

20.01.2022 UK’s GREEN PLAN ‘AS FIT AS A BUTCHER’s DOG’ UK PM, Boris Johnson may quote he’s a fit as a butcher’s dog whilst having been in contact with COVID-19 and although he may not appear the best, his government’s GREEN PLAN brought forward a decade to 2030 under a 10-point plan to tackle climate change is FANTASTIC and in full support of a GREEN industrial revolution. 17.01.2022 ANNUAL TAX ON THE FAMILY HOME NSW are the first to propose the shift on abolishing STAMP DUTY and introducing a broad based property tax. An informative read by Steven Paterson of Grant Thornton as taxing the family home edges closer to reality.... Our own take back in August on TAXES vs STAMP DUTY can be found here: https://www.quayco.com.au//11/stamp-duty-to-be-or-not-to-be Great to see NSW State government consulting with industry groups, closing discussions mid-March 2021. #property #PropertyTax #stampduty #propertyinvestment #australianproperty #realestate #reiwa #udia #cityofperth #quayco

17.01.2022 ELECTRIC VEHICLE ROAD USER CHARGE Governments around the world have long used financial incentives to encourage the use of electric vehicles (EV) on the basis that they are a more environmentally friendly and reduce carbon emissions. South Australia's government is heading in the opposite direction, opting to tax EV users for every kilometre they drive as a way to claw back the taxes they are avoiding paying through the petrol pump and other States are considering following s...uit. C’mon Aussie, let’s focus on the reduction and move away from fossil fuels, reviewing a fairer taxation at a time when we’ve achieved the majority adoption of EVs in all households and business fleets, not penalising early adopters, where we should be incentivising uptake and encouraging EV imports into our Australian market. Let’s hope WA we can lead the way, following SA in their investment in EV charging station infrastructure, but NOT in unnecessary road user charges for EV early adopters. #electricvehicles #motoring #roadtransport #electriccars Main Roads Western Australia Department Of Transport #quayco #BusinessNews PerthNow #wa #environment #sustainability

14.01.2022 CASUAL FRIDAY REMEMBER YOU’RE NOT WILL SMITH Fashion experts are predicting a ‘comfort dressing’ return to the office for Australians as we’ve proven during the pandemic we can be effective in hoodies and tracksuits. Suggesting summer office trends will include relaxed cuts, linen suit jackets and flat shoes for women reporting that before you buy something to wear on your return to the office, you should always stop and ask yourself if you really need it, as statistical...ly, we tend to wear 20% of our clothes, 80% of the time. Personally, Will Smith and Tyra Banks could pull off trackies, ugg boots and onesies and still look like legendary runway models, but I’d WARN 90% of our office workers in Perth, to retain pride in the way you dress for the office. Not being against a bit more of a relaxed dress code, just be mindful of comfort and style working hand in hand, supporting ethical and sustainable clothing purchases and as Amy Schumer would have it ‘keep feeling pretty’ #fashion #business #perth #wa #WAeconomy #postcovid19 #fashionable #businessattire #casualwear #casual #quayco

13.01.2022 PERTH - RETURN TO OUR CITY OFFICES As the majority of city workers on the east coast of Australia, with the exception of Adelaide remain working remotely, corporate offices in Perth City are slowly filling, but not fast enough. As we surpass 5 months of no community COVID-19 transmission within WA, there’s no reason why we can’t continue to refill our offices, where disappointingly only 55% of workers have returned to CBD offices in Perth.... Time to be considerate of our new office hygiene protocols and help boost our City’s economy, its retail and SME businesses that have been hit hard in recent times by helping to refill our City. Let’s all help to ‘revive Perth’ in these challenging times, leading the nation by a return to the WORKPLACE and BUSINESS to drive a POSITIVE ECONOMY and an activated CITY CBD. #commercialrealestate #WAeconomy #WABusinessNews #perthproperty #perthpropertymarket #quayco #perthnow #udia

12.01.2022 Australia’s biggest beer companies, Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), Coopers and Lions have placed a dinkum Aussie request to the Morrison government to SLASH THE TAX ON DRAUGHT BEER as continual coronavirus restrictions on the eastern seaboard (excluding Western Australia) have some pubs struggling with cashflow to stay afloat, with the price of a pint usually increased twice a year, thanks to government levies. 12.01.2022 PERTH CITY COUNCIL UPGRADES We in the City of Perth are all for reenergising and helping to place the reset button to our economy post-COVID, yet following an inquiry finding our past City Council incompetent at a cost to ratepayers of $7.2m, upgrading Council House councillor meeting spaces, support facilities, civic reception areas and a new office for the Lord Mayor may be considered ‘a bridge too far’. The Council will be asked Tuesday 22 September, to vote on the recomme...ndation of the $2.5m refurbishment, with the agenda noting the City has received negative sentiment and should give the item careful consideration. At a time when our City Council’s under a complete overhaul, there’s possibly no better time to modernise and improve their facilities, helping its accessibility for residents and visitors, with a fresh look and modern redesign. Let’s hope, should this capex be passed, it helps our Council’s approachability, connectivity and streamlining of purposeful services; and above all falls below the line in the 2020/21 budget. #perthnow #quayco #WABusinessNews #WAeconomy

11.01.2022 WA PROPERTY MARKET FOCUS AREAS The latest Colliers report Q3 2020 shows commercial office deals in Australia have plummeted 75% to $4.3b, retail shrinking by 29% to 2.7b; and only $400m of hotel deals taking place. The only shining light, being industrial, bulky goods and logistics sector, which has benefited by a surge in e-commerce driven warehousing demand and people shopping online due to lockdowns. $3.57b of industrial / warehousing transactions have taken place from t...he start of the year to September end (Q3 2020) that is 5.6% up on the previous year, Colliers indicating institutional markets to a tune of approximately $26b are still looking to invest capital into the sector. 08.01.2022 A GROWING NUMBER OF EXPATS RETURNING HOME With regular trips back home no longer viable due to the pandemic, about a fifth of Australia's highly skilled expat professionals have relinquished overseas opportunities to return home for good in 2020, the AFR reports. For high-performing Australian professionals, a stint working overseas in a larger market in the past was considered a rite of passage. Yet, in current times, coming home proves tough once you achieve some level of s...uccess internationally and as many expats abandon overseas posts and come back to Australia for good, gambling that the pandemic's impact will last well beyond 2021 - they struggle to find professional employment, even in lesser roles amongst high unemployment rates and younger, less experienced candidates, that are more locally networked and will maintain the status-quo. A great time for Employers to consider employment of an expat, embrace their learnings, not view skills as a threat, but a valued bonus to the business and give a 'fair go' - you may be surprised of the positive outcome. Business owners that call for new strategies and global ideas, yet keep making the same choices and decisions they've done for 30 years with no growth strategy or dynamism - now's a great time to evoke change. #expats #expatlife #returninghome #perthproperty #wa #perth #cityofperth #business #economicrecovery #BusinessNews

08.01.2022 PERTH INNER CITY No.3 IN AUSTRALIAN MOST LIVEABLE METROPOLITAN AREAS. 08.01.2022 LOAN DEFERRAL - beware of tougher times ahead... Ponder over the latest figures provided by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, of our Australian Bank’s deferral of $55 billion in small business loans, you ask yourself: Where many SMEs, such as ourselves are now supported by the government’s JobKeeper subsidies this won’t last forever; and with many loans secured by property, there is strong likelihood we are going to see an increase of distressed sales both in... the commercial and residential space when JobKeeper subsidies expire 28 March 2021. As those large listed property groups tap capital markets to shore up their balance sheets, in readiness to strike on distressed assets come 2021/22, I warn all fellow SMEs and mortgage holders that opted to defer their loan repayments, Ensure you have a good relationship with your Banker for the potential tougher times ahead and to those in BIG business, time to review COLLABORATION and INCLUSION to smaller BUSINESSES, supporting a positive economy for ALL and not just a few. 07.01.2022 A QUOKKA NATION & REEF STATE ? As Australian’s unite to piece back together our economy post-COVID-19, polling from market research group, Utting Research has found 28% of West Australians would like to see WA become its own country - a plan unofficially dubbed "WAxit". Not too far behind, is another plan from North Queensland First member for Whitsunday, Jason Costigan proposing the title of the "Reef State" - to give North Queensland the powers to make its own laws and spli...t the current Sunshine State in two. Has the coronavirus recession lead us to decidophobia, forcing us down the path of our own local Trumpism? Yes, we may feel "isolated and ignored" from the rest of the nation and I applaud healthy State patriotism, but not a good enough reason to break from our allies. Our Aussie values of respect, commitment and equality may need some airtime and healthy debate within federal parliament, but this is where freedom of political participation and parliamentary democracy can play a part remember our nation still remains a healthy democracy, let’s keep it that way and TOGETHER AS ONE! #australia #wa #perthlife #perth The West Australian #quayco

07.01.2022 Perth City’s next LORD MAYOR is only a fortnight away from being sworn into Office, along with eight (8) elected Councillors. Despite low registration numbers for local elections, I urge all those registered voters to understand and know the candidates, prior to casting your votes, as these candidates all have spent and will spend, if elected many hours representing 'you' working hard for the City of Perth and its ratepayers. The least we can all do in the lead up (17 October...) is to know the candidates and place a respectful, researched and informed vote. Our City deserves the best, so take the time to vote for your considered best and to all the candidates running for Lord Mayor and Council positions, I wish you all the very best of luck. #wa #perthwa #wabusinessnews #waeconomy #perthbusiness #perthisok #perthlordmayor #Perth #westernaustralia #quayco #perthnow

04.01.2022 Our commercial, retail and hotel Owners and Tenants in our City are doing it tough, but let's not let a crisis get in the way of CREATING OPPORTUNITY. 03.01.2022 WA PROPERTY GROWTH SUPPLY & DEMAND New home construction grants have simply pushed demand for new housing forward; and contracted our rental markets, but without population growth, or people coming into our State, we’re losing circulation of our housing supply, that could potentially see sales fall and our housing market stagnate to the future.
