21.01.2022 As things stand at the moment, the NSW Office of Sport currently permits participation in croquet for exercise purposes under its Public Health Order provided all the other usual rules are followed - e.g. high levels of personal hygiene and appropriate social distancing - but for only two people at a time. We have also confirmed with Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council that we can resume play. To cater for the existing two-at-a-time rule a booking system for the club usi...ng Google Calendar software. Please see instructions below. The following rules MUST be adhered to when playing at the club: 1. The lawn will be open for both practice and play, but for QCC members only 2. Only two (2) people can play at a time 3. Only two (2) people are permitted in the clubhouse at any one time 4. Book a time using the QCC Calendar (see instructions below) 5. For the safety of everyone, it is best to use tissues and /or wipes on commonly used surfaces such as gates and doors 6. Please comply with all the social distancing rules 7. Only access the Clubhouse to retrieve and return equipment; to perform necessary administrative tasks (like signing in and paying fees); and to use the toilet and wash your hands 8. The kitchen is out of bounds for refreshments. The aim of the restriction is to not have too large a gathering in close quarters in the clubhouse. 9. Wipe the hoops, mallet handles and balls before and after play. 10. Wash your hands often! In preparation for the resumption of play, the clubhouse has been cleaned, as have the mallets, balls and hoops. The cloth handled mallets have been set aside for the time being as they are more awkward to clean. You will find disinfectant wipes, hand sanitiser and single use plastic gloves in the clubhouse. Thank you to Kem Hazelton for the cleaning and supply of sanitiser etc. HOW TO USE THE BOOKING SYSTEM Access the booking calendar by going to the following web site: https://calendar.google.com/calendar Login: [email protected] Password: (sent out to all members via email) There are a few ways to make a booking. You can: EITHER (a) Use the Create command which is in the top left corner and enter the following details: In the TITLE enter something like AC - {name 1} & {name 2} or GC - {name 1} & {name 2}; ADJUST the date and time to what you want and select SAVE. OR (b) Highlight the timeslot you wish to book on the timetable grid and then enter the details indicated above in the event box that pops up. Select SAVE. Make sure the All day box is not set and please limit your booking to a maximum of 2 hours. To log out, click on the QCC logo in the top right hand corner, and from the drop down menu that appears, select "SIGN OUT". You can go back and edit the details later if need be by clicking on the event in the timetable grid and then click on EDIT EVENT in the pop up box.

17.01.2022 Renovations to the clubhouse A concrete ramp is to be constructed in front of the clubhouse to improve mobility access. No games during this time.

10.01.2022 Our club is in the process of buying a set of these balls. Now we know the work that goes into making them. Thanks Australian Croquet Co.
10.01.2022 We have been advised by Paul Manwaring of the Australian Croquet Company that croquet balls should NOT be cleaned with sanitizer. Apparently this was done in th...e USA and it changed the colour of the balls. Instead we recommend that balls are cleaned in a bucket of warm/hot water with dishwashing liquid. They need to be cleaned properly in this mixture, wiped all over with a brush or rag. This will kill bacteria and viruses that may be on the balls. They can then be left to dry. Players could wear gloves whilst performing this task, if gloves are not used then the player must wash their hands with soap for at least 20-30 seconds. Please pass this information to all players who are in charge of cleaning equipment at your club and ensure that this procedure is followed for correct care of the balls and protection of players. Enjoy some croquet over the weekend!
10.01.2022 Day 2 - scarifying completed but due to the expected storm this afternoon top dressing will be done tomorrow.
09.01.2022 The Blackall Cup has been played over the last two days between Queanbeyan & Canberra Croquet Clubs. After day one at Queanbeyan, Canberra held a narrow lead 3 - 2. Today we were at Canberra & Queanbeyan came out on top with a narrow margin of 3 - 2. Overall the sides were evenly matched with the result of 5 - 5, which meant a countback on hoops and retaining the Blackall Cup is Queanbeyan Croquet Club!... Thanks to all involved at both Clubs for making this a successful & memorable weekend. Looking forward to defending the title in 2020!
