07.01.2022 Atm I think this is really important to share. Mental health is affecting so many in these crazy times. More Authenticity on social media would be a great start in creating awareness & hopefully encourage people to open up about how they are really feeling. Understand that all our feelings are valid. TOXIC POSITIVITY - is the excessive & ineffective over generalization of beeing HAPPY in all situations. Toxic positivity results in the denial, minimization, & invalidation of ...the authentic human emotional experience. by not acknowledge all of our feelings we are actually living in denial. The truth is every positive emotion has a negative one. When we dont want to show a part of ourselves, we create a fake face or public persona for the world. Unfortunately by doing this these suppressed emotions can later manifest into mental health issues, self loathing, isolation & even physical illness. By acknowledging our emotions & by verbalizing them we are moving them out of our bodies. This is very healthy and relieves us of the tension caused by suppressing the truth. Once we honor our feelings, we embrace ALL of ourselves, the good, the bad and the ugly. And accepting ourselves just as we are, we are on the path to true emotional maturity. In denying our truth, we begin to live inauthentically with ourselves & with the world. We lose connection with ourselves, making it difficult for others to connect and relate to us. Other's will often see this as Fake & Untrustworthy, resulting in counterfeit intimacy and superficial friendships. If you recognize yourself as a transmitter of toxic positivity, its time to cut it out. Youre hurting yourself & the people you care about most by insisting on this toxic mindset. Instead aim for balance and the acceptance of both good & bad emotions. If youre being influenced by toxic positivity, we encourage you to set healthy boundaries with anyone who passes judgment on your authentic experience and speak your truth.
