25.01.2022 Unfortunately due to a clash with another regatta, The Queen of the Lake has been postponed till early next year. Enjoy your sailing this weekend.

25.01.2022 Anyone wishing to sail this Saturday March 28 at Queens Lake needs to accept that they will probably be doing so without the support of others to assist them to launch & rig and without either of the two support vessels. Although sailing, especially single handed dinghy sailing, is probably one of the safer outdoor activities whilst a virus is running rampant QLSC feels that given the severity of the situation it is best we shut down the season altogether - effective immediately. Enjoy the off season. If things change we will advise. If it’s possible to conduct an AGM in a safe environment sometime in July or August we will advise.

25.01.2022 Today looks to be building to a cracker for a text book nor Easter. 3 spring races first start 1.30pm Why not grab a club laser for a burn? See you on the water!

25.01.2022 Rumpus rudder lost 2 seasons ago and returned by a friendly lake fisherman Cheers !

23.01.2022 Hi Fellow Queens lake sailors, Hope you are enjoying your Easter break. Not looking good for a sail tomorrow , Gareth and Cam are unable to attend. Thanks for the interest and hope to see everybody back in the near future.

23.01.2022 Social sailing from 11 am and racing tommorow 1.30 start (3 races) All welcome. Club boats available Cheers Dave.

23.01.2022 All set and ready to go, the Queens lake gang at South West rocks

23.01.2022 Although this Saturday Jan 25 is not an official QLSC race day there will be members wanting to sail so we'd love to see you down at the lake, And besides, it'd be worth coming down anyway because our long lost buddy from Kansas - Mr Charles Loomis - plans to come across from Wauchope to launch his pride and joy that afternoon, weather permitting of course. Yes, it's not a design that will threaten a foiling cat cross breeze or outpoint an Etchell but it has been beautifully made by Charlie himself and is sure to turn some heads.

20.01.2022 11 starters yesterday in a mixture of cats, lasers and a 10ft skiff. 2 races were completed in a light northerly with the 3rd being call off as a thunder storm rolled in. Results posted soon. Thanks to Rex and Karen for manning the start boat. ... Next week is The Queen on the lake regatta. 3 sprint races on Saturday starting from 1.30pm. Sunday marathon around the lake race starts 1pm. $20 entry per day. All classes of boat welcome.

20.01.2022 Fantastic to be able to host the NNSW Sabots over the weekend - see you again next season!

19.01.2022 Got a message inviting me for a sail at Queens Lake Sailing Club with a few Lasers going to be there. Nice light forecast, seemed a sensible idea. Five of us, a...ll full rigs, enjoyed four short races with a couple of multis and one NS14 - who copped the multis' longer course for his troubles. Excellent fun, some boat swapping for amusement - very sporting of Dave to wait for us at the wing mark! Most enjoyable.

19.01.2022 A nice social sail today

19.01.2022 Finally, a day that wasn't all about boat speed. Jan 11 was more about strategy and luck, picking the wind shifts and handling the very erratic gusts. And for once the Mari Cats had to tack a half dozen times on each of their windward legs. A lot of fun was had (especially by those watching it all unfold from the comfort of the committee vessel). The lead changed many times in each of the 3 races and no one had any idea who was going to cross the line first until the siren was sounded.

19.01.2022 Visiting Queens Lake Sailing Club today! The club is a buzz with the Northern NSW Sabot Sailing Assoc training camp! Great day out on the water before the club season starts! Australian Sailing | Discover Sailing

18.01.2022 Please note that 1st, 2nd & 3rd is based on corrected time (current SA yardsticks used) and In the case of the A Class catamaran in Div 3 a 'Classic' yardstick of 66 was used (as against a 'Flying' yardstick of 62.5 or a 'Vintage' yardstick of 71.5) because exact class of vessel was unknown at time of publication.

18.01.2022 .... 8-10 knots the forecast said. Hmmm.

17.01.2022 The following rule change has just been issued by Sailing Australia to all clubs. Rule 46 of the Racing Rules of Sailing currently has a prescription that means that after three races all crew of any race must be a club member - and that Australian Sailing was reviewing this requirement. From 1 January 2021 the Australian Sailing prescription to the rule will be amended to require that all crew of any race are members of an affiliated club and also registered with Australian Sailing - regardless of the number of races they have competed in.

17.01.2022 Champagne sailing today on Queens lake, great turnout. Thanks John Basden for turning up and sailing!!!

16.01.2022 Don’t know who wrote this report but was asked to post on FACEBOOK. Saturday heralded a dreaded southerly gusting to 25 knots with just four starters facing the start on March 7. The remainder of the fleet were away competing at a regatta at South West rocks. With the hoot from the starter's boat, the two mono-hulls and two catamarans took off on the first beat toward Lakewood. Ian on the laser, Frantic, soon took on an additional crew in the form of a mullet which jumped in...to the cockpit. Ziggy and Riley exchanged their flying 11 for a club laser, LUSC, and soon had the boat performing well up wind. The two cats skippered by Rick on Lomi and Julian on his new NACRA were well ahead. Results of both races were: Monos; Frantic followed by LUSC and; Rick lead Julian in the cats. Julian baptised his new cat with a nose dive into the mud of Queens Lake. Good day was had by all and many thanks to the start boat crew of Rex, Lindsay and Tom. Anyone interested in dinghy sailing please come down to the club and join in. We have several club boats available and are happy to assist newcomers. Races are held each Saturday at 1pm. Gardeners please come and help yourself to the abundance of rotting seaweed on our lake front, makes great long lasting mulch to keep down the weeds. Best to come and collect during the week, not on Saturday. See more

16.01.2022 Racing Cancelled today due to weather and debris in Lake and rigging area underwater. Hopefully better weather next week for racing and Queen of The Lake preparations. Cheers Dave

15.01.2022 Please note the QLSC 2020 AGM will be held at 2pm Saturday August 8th with a quick bite to eat and a general tidy-up of the clubhouse facilities from around mid-day.

15.01.2022 Corrected time results from 26/10

15.01.2022 Over the last two Saturdays there has been nothing between some boats on corrected time - a few split seconds in some races - so if it's at all possible all elapsed times are to be recorded not just to the closest minute but to the closest second. As you know there are sheep stations hinging on these results. (Mari Cat sailors please note that on Nov 23 'Óne Too Many' competed as a Sloop rig - not a Super Sloop. Some of you may not have noticed but it did have 2 crew on board and as such was handicapped accordingly)

14.01.2022 Photos from Saturday’s sprints

14.01.2022 Not too many photos from this afternoons racing as we spent a bit of time getting masts out of the mud! 'Epic' conditions was the comment from one of the front runners, but probably a bit challenging for most! We managed to get two races away before having to finish racing for the day and get everyone back to the beach all safe and sound. A fantastic weekend, and we thank the Northern NSW Zone Sabots for spending the weekend with us.

12.01.2022 Hi all Queens Lake Sailing Club members, Don't forget Feb 22 and 23 is the Queen of the Lake Regatta Refer the attached leaflet for all details. Please let either myself or Dave Castleton know if you can assist with either canteen or race duties on either the Saturday or Sunday or both. And please help spread the word. This regatta is open to members AND visitors and is without doubt one of the best family fun days on the water anywhere on the coast. Don't miss it.

12.01.2022 Today,s weather looks great! Today We are hosting the nsw sabots for tiger training weekend. There will be a normal format of queens lake racing starting at 1.30 Today’s racing we be used as a warm up race and will not count for points.... See you on the water - Dave

11.01.2022 Best of luck to all of our sailors representing queens lake this weekend at trial bay. Normal club racing- coaching will be held from 1pm tommorow/ results will not count to end or year point score.

11.01.2022 A big congratulation to Cameron Kaul for taking out 1st prize in Division one with all the big boys and there toys with only 2 outings on his A-Class at the Speers Point Anzac day regatta 2019. It was a hard fort battle that he endured and he showed us all how it's done. Gareth and Izzy on the N17 struggled in the light breeze but still managed to finish the race ahead of a couple of A- class boats which opted for an early retirement.

08.01.2022 Results from 29/2, 7/3 and 14/3 attached. Only 3 weeks til season end. Don't forget on the last Saturday, April 4, we'd love to everyone down at the club for a BBQ.

08.01.2022 Saturday 1st Feb - Race Report While some of our regulars were away at the final Budgewoi Regatta, Queens Lake had one of the nicest NE'r for the season. Junior training on Sabots ran from 10:30-12:30, with lots of starting line drills and first work strategy planning. Racing began at 2pm in 12-18kts and gradually eased throughout the afternoon. Close racing as always with the Maricats, with Rick finally grinding down Julian's early lead to take the race win by 3sec. Charlie on his Sabot revelled in the conditions and managed to complete two laps of the full course in good time. New arrivals to the club Jim and Deb on their MG started strongly, but new rigging still stretching in caused a few issues and they returned to the beach early.

07.01.2022 Great turnout today, Good to see John White ,Ethan White and Lilly getting round the course. Also great to Have Nathan and Belinda back on the 5.8, good result from two races. Don't forget it's Queen of the lake next weekend for a two day event.

07.01.2022 Hi All Members, Tomorrow is the first working bee of the season. We’d love to see as many down at the clubhouse as possible. We’ll open around 9am and there will be a casual club funded BBQ. If you have any new ideas or suggestions as regards the upcoming season, on any subject whatsoever, please speak up. If you do plan on sailing a club boat this season it’s an ideal opportunity tomorrow to rig it up to ensure it’s all ready to go from the 21st. Cheers, Ian

07.01.2022 Hi All, Even though the season has officially ended the conditions for this Saturday are looking good with 8-12 knot winds from the E-SE at 1300hrs and 25 degrees A few are keen for a hit out so please give a show of hands if you are keen as well. So far Gareth and Izzy on the 17 , Julian and Cam .The more the merrier

07.01.2022 QUEEN OF THE LAKE REGATTA Feb 22 & 23 Don't forget it's annual Queen of the Lake this weekend with racing on Saturday getting underway at 1pm (3 race sprint series) and the marathon on Sunday starting at 12.30pm - weather permitting of course. All classes of boat welcome. Bring your family, bring your friends. See you there.

06.01.2022 Moth man Moves for no one and will not be pushed around by big fast catamarans.

06.01.2022 The annual 2020 Queen of the Lake regatta off to a great start on the first day with a wide selection of different classes and some close racing.

04.01.2022 Results from the annual Queen of the Lake regatta now posted. Note the gap on corrected time in the Mari Cat Division on Sunday. Close racing is an understatement.

04.01.2022 Photos from yesterday’s racing,

04.01.2022 A pile of Maricats getting sorted for their forthcoming states.

04.01.2022 A huge southerly this weekend. well done to Cameron Kaul, winning line honours in the manning marathon wit Brett white on the nacra 20. 6 boats took to the water on Saturday to be confronted by a shower big southerly bullets, ranging from 0 to 30+ knotts. 3 maricats started the race and Kevin on the club laser.... Plenty of spills and mud coated mainsails! Dave on inspired was the only boat to finish, Another weekend of wild conditions to the tally. Surely we are in for some test book perfect 10-15 queens lake nor Easter’s soon. Next weekend is the heron titles, hope to see you there!. Dave.

02.01.2022 Hi Everyone, I trust you are enjoying the off season. It’s that time of year where we need to hold our AGM. This year it’ll be on Saturday July 27th at our clubhouse at Queens Lake. We will aim to combine the AGM with a working bee. The AGM will commence at 2pm followed by the Commodore’s 2018/19 prize presentations and a quiet beverage and bbq There should be enough chairs for all attendees but best bring something warm to wear in case we strike a nasty day.... I will issue an agenda closer to the date. If in the meantime you have anything you would like to raise at the AGM under General Business please let me know asap so I can add it to the agenda. Don’t forget, part of the AGM process is to elect office bearers. Cheers, see you on the 27th. Ian Read Secretary QLSC 02 6559 8269 0434 986 585

02.01.2022 Beers, boats, kids, dogs and pies classic queens lake and a cheers to our dear friend mark holt who won’t be forgotten.

01.01.2022 Although Sat Jan 4 was not an official race day it did prove to be a great warm-up for the upcoming summer season for a few boats and crew we have not seen down at the club for a little while. Perfect 15 knot NE conditions saw some very close racing. The most enthralling tussle, and the one the crowds flocked to the foreshore to witness, was between an old dusted-down Corsair and our quickest Laser - two of their three races being decided by only hundredths of a second. The larger cats also put on a show of their own - Scott showing he's lost absolutely nothing despite being sidelined for a few months with buzzing business commitments and Nathan displaying very impressive skill, gallantry & sportsmanship by sacrificing a very handy position in one race to undertake a full search & rescue of a crew member who was on debut.

01.01.2022 A great day was had for our last official sail for the season, challenging light winds made it an interesting afternoon. Good to see Izzy having a crack at the Nacra 17 and Cameron flying a hull on his A-class
