03.01.2022 One of our fisho's (Peter) from Rockhampton caught and released this magnificent fish in February this year, whilst fishing with his son. The Barramundi measured 133cm and estimated weight 30kg. Peter and his son were more worried about getting the fish back to the water than taking several pics, spending over 5 minutes to get her to swim away, using the boat to slowly move forward for maximum water through the gills. After gently biting on his sons hand, she swam away stron...gly hopefully to produce many offspring for years to come. Peter says he has bragging rights as his son caught another barra at only 95cm. Peter said it was great to catch her, but even better to see her swim away. A local who fishes the same area regularly told us that 3 years ago, the area was almost barren but after the commercial nets were removed, it is not uncommon to catch meter long barra there now. The same day they lost several fish to snags and size on the light gear they started with. Some great fingermark to 55cm were also caught in the same area. Well done Peter and thank you for sharing your story. See more
