18.01.2022 QUEENSLAND STATE BAND FESTIVAL INVITATION - Open to all affiliated brass and concert bands Australia wide. The QBA management committee made the decision yesterday to cancel the Qld State Championships 2020. Well done to the seven bands who showed 'spirit' and resilience and sent in entries but unfortuately, it is not a viable number to allow us to host the States in its usual format. However, we are very excited to offer bands the opportunity to participate in a virtual Qld ...State Band Festival. Run along similar lines to the States, bands will perform in grades and video three events to be submitted for adjudication. The State Title will not be awarded this year, however, there will be tiered awards presented. The performances will go 'live' and we look forward to seeing and hearing from regional bands who have missed the opportunity to participate due to distance and travel limitations. The QSEC Solo and Ensemble competition will also be run using similar criteria with full details for interested players out soon. Further details will be posted on the QBA web page on 15 August and emailed to all band secretaries.

09.01.2022 There has been progress on a COVID-19 safe plan designed specifically for Choral, Vocal, Instrumental and Musical Theatre groups operating within Queensland. The plan specifically acknowledges the unique situations of brass bands and orchestras and is in the hands of the Chief Medical Officer awaiting approval. The QBA has had the opportunity to peruse the draft of the plan and we believe that our community bands will find it extremely useful. The link to access the COVID-19 safe plan will be posted as soon as approval is granted.

01.01.2022 QLD VIRTUAL BAND FESTIVAL UPDATES Thanks to all of the bands who have contacted us with questions and feedback for the 2020 Virtual Band Festival. It's very exciting to hear about what you are doing and we look forward to seeing and hearing your videos streamed on BrassBanned - 24/25 October. There have been a few significant changes to the guidelines to accommodate bands who are in the process of preparing for the festival. 1. The due date for video submission is extended to... October 11th to allow school bands the opportunity to record during 'term' time. PDF scores and Player Lists are still due on 4 October. 2. The limit on 'external' players has been removed. We do this knowing that community bands may need a little bit of 'help' to fill a few seats and we trust in your integrity. 3. Any 'new' player registrations that may not get to the QBA Registrar by September 26th, can also be added as external players for this festival. The QBA Secretary has emailed full details of these guidelines and updated forms to all band secretaries.
