25.01.2022 Yes it's an evolving situation, but this should provide some reassurance for those with little ones. . .... . #coronavirus #covid19 #pregnancy #breastfeeding #birth #staywell #pandemic See more

25.01.2022 When mum has quality time * * * *... It's day 11 as a Cradle carer im the family of baby Alex and mum feels well enough to spend some quality time with Alex' sibling. The birth of a sibling brings a lot of change in the family. To be able to spend some one on one time with one child when you have more than one is so very valuable. This is what our service is about. We care for mum and mum cares for her children #careforkids #cradlecare #mumsformums #brisbanemums #brisbanebabyshower #brisbanebabies #brisbanenewborns #midwivesbrisbane #brisbanemidwives

24.01.2022 #postpartumcare #postnatal #4thtrimester When you have been giving birth already you are more familiar with these meanings because you remember how you felt that particular period. How did you go? Did you prepare for it at all or was your main focus just on the baby and not yourself? * It is so easy to forget about ourselves but it's also a missed chance to take care of ourselves in a time you need it very very much. *... There are ways to prepare yourself for the period after birth. 23.01.2022 What a very clear and simple explanation about breastfeeding during a heatwave. Hope it helps

23.01.2022 YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! Is the message Cradle Care really wants to get out in 2020. For too long women have put themselves on a backburner, pretended that giving birth was just as easy as grocery shopping and they we have not been speaking up about what has been happening to them and their bodies. It's time we do. Alexandra Sacks explains in this talk what happens to the body. https://youtu.be/jOsX_HnJtHU

23.01.2022 Spot on! https://www.mamamia.com.au/writing-a-post-natal-care-plan/

22.01.2022 Newborns are not aware of cause and effect which means they don't know that when they cry, you will come. Newborns want their parent. Their smell, their voice, their sound, their love and their cuddles. https://theheartysoul.com/holding-your-crying-baby-isnt-sp/

22.01.2022 "She said babies born through the Indigenous midwifery program were six times less likely to be born prematurely and 11 times less likely to have a low birth weight than Indigenous babies born from mothers who did not have access to such care."

21.01.2022 Winter is only one day away and even though it doesn't always feel like that during a beautiful day such as today, you do need to add some more layers to keep warm and so does your newborn. In this blog there are a few tips on how to dress your newborn. https://www.cradlecare.com.au//what-should-my-newborn-wear

19.01.2022 Have you prepared for labour? How about after labour? During the lock down many new mothers experienced how lonely, hard and exhausting the period after birth is. Many of those mothers are aware that something needs to change. There is no village any more but it doesn't mean that you need to do it all alone and be ok with it. https://www.cradlecare.com.au/post/preparing-for-labour

17.01.2022 When we post on Social media we often don't think of the consequences it could have for others. Sometimes people should do that before they are posting something especially when it could be dangerous for many others when they think they should do the same..... https://www.cradlecare.com.au//new-mothers-need-more-suppo

17.01.2022 This is very interesting. Due to lockdown you are not allowed to have visitors after birth which is of course very sad but midwives do see a change in women and babies because of this. Mothers are more focussed on their babies and less distracted by people coming around. I am currently not working but it would be very interesting to read of hear how new mothers experience their journey in lockdown.

16.01.2022 Dear mums, please check if you have a carseat from this brand.

15.01.2022 Perfect timing my darling

15.01.2022 Social isolation is not new to newborn mothers, they have been there. Read in our new blog what it means and what you could do to help. https://www.cradlecare.com.au//social-isolation-new-mother

14.01.2022 Got very inspired at the breastfeeding conference this week. Wish breastfeeding was promoted much more when I was doing it, I would have felt much more supported. https://www.cradlecare.com.au//babies-shouldn-t-drink-milk

14.01.2022 For parents who had kids, our service is easy to explain because they can immediately relate. They remember the struggles, the isolation, the insecurity and the long days and nights. Those parents always say, I wish a service like yours existed in our time. How can we make new (pregnant) parents aware about planning for the period after birth? Did your midwife ask you if you prepared for the postnatal period? https://www.cradlecare.com.au//why-is-postpartum-care-impo

14.01.2022 World Health Organisation symptoms chart * * * This is really handy for if in doubt of symptoms. Educate yourself before going to get tested because when you suspect you have covid-19 and you want to get tested, be aware that you'll be going to a place where there will be people who could have the virus.... * The WHO said they didn't find any traces of covid-19 in the breast milk of the infected mother * The WHO said until now they have not found any problems with newborns who are born from an covid-19 infected mother. * #newbornsbrisbane #covid19queensland #covid19brisbane #covid-19breastmilk #covid-19newborns #mumsinbrisbane #brisbanemum #mumsinbrisbane See more

13.01.2022 This week I have spoken to postpartum doula's all over the world. Sadly we discovered how lonely new mums all over the world are in their post partum period (4th trimester). The good thing about it is that we all (1300 women in the group) want to make a change. We no longer accept that new mums have to struggle, we no longer accept that new mums should be alone. We are their village and we will stand up for them. #postpartumdoula #postnatal #postpartumdoula #postnatalcare #4thtrimester #cradlecare #brisbanemums #midwivesbrisbane #newborns #newbornsbrisbane #matermums #materbabies

12.01.2022 A very interesting read about children and Covid-19. I am surprised about some of this information like this; "People interviewed by the WHO Joint Mission Team could not recall episodes in which transmission occurred from a child to an adult [1]. This will occur within case reports in time but appears to be infrequent." http://www.paedicare.com.au/children-and-coronavirus/

09.01.2022 Very understandable that you want to leave quickly from the hospital atm but are new mothers being supported and protected? https://www.smh.com.au//women-to-leave-hospital-hours-afte

09.01.2022 What if your partner brings a different partner home and says "it's ok, I love you both just as much, you will become best friends one day" Sounds a bit ridiculous, doesn't it? Have you ever thought that this how your child could feel when you bring home a baby?

08.01.2022 Measuring my temperature before I go to work is not new to me since I am working with newborns but boy how different does it feel now. Also the daily doubts, the whole time about everything. Our own kids, school, work, shopping, meetings, gatherings everything has changed and it might even get worse. A shout out to everyone that we will get through this, it will pass. I hope it will happen fast with the minimum amount of casualties. ... Thank you in advance to all health staff who are working so hard

06.01.2022 Peach Tree is responding to the COVID-19 crisis by providing free online, trauma-informed, peer support groups. Our groups are delivered using an evidence-bas...ed Peer-led approach, are non-judgemental, friendly, and inclusive for all expecting parents and parents of young children aged 0 - 5 years. In these unprecedented times of COVID-19, when the world seems scary and out of control, it is more difficult to keep feelings of anxiety, fear, hopelessness, and sadness from becoming all-consuming and overwhelming. In addition to such feelings, we are being told to physically isolate and distance ourselves from others! In addition to our usual virtual timetable, Peach Tree will be hosting FREE the following individual sessions next week: COVID-19: Pregnancy, anxiety, stress and sadness: Tuesday, 9:30 11.00am COVID-19: Postnatal depression & anxiety Thursday, 9:30 11.00am Please see our Note for full information. Limited places available, so please register by emailing us: [email protected].

03.01.2022 A very interesting read if you just started breastfeeding... https://www.facebook.com/179320212116666/posts/2596178003764196/

03.01.2022 Well done Huggies for shining a light on the problem. Motherhood is not easy so why pretend it is. Why not be honest about it and share how you feel instead of pretending you are ok and everything is amazing. If we all only show how well we are doing it, we are not true to ourselves, our loved ones or to the next generation.

02.01.2022 Working for this amazing family this week made me think about what was the best part for me. What part I am most proud of and what sticks with me is the grateful look on the parents face when I am finished for the day. "You have really made a difference" mum said after my first day there. This is what I am about. To make a difference, to make a better start for mother and newborn. When I closed the door behind me today I knew I made a difference again. Mum and bub were out ...and when they come back after I had left her house is clean, all the beds are made up and all towels are fresh, her washing is washed and put away, her kitchen is clean and her dishwasher is empty. There are two ready to go meals in the fridge and all the baby bottles are clean. That's how I made a difference today and it's the best!! #postnatal #postnatalcare #brisbanebabies #preggoinbrisbane #brisbanenewborns #4thtrimester #afterbirth #matermums #maternity #brisbanemums

01.01.2022 Good morning mums! Queensland Cradle Care has created a survey to understand more about the effects of synthetic oxytocin on newborns. With this survey we can see if there could be a correlation between the behavior of newborns when mother has had synthetic oxytocin at the time of her delivery or after. Any information gathered will be analysed within Queensland Cradle Care and no personal information will be distributed. If you would like to receive the results of the surv...ey you can add your email address at the bottom of the survey. https://forms.gle/oqQ33yi9wr14CRa67
